Nabwire wrote:According to the BD article, Marathon paid Africa oil $35 million for entry permit, Im just hoping BD is correct and your source is wrong. Coz if they paid $35 million to acquire their portion of the block, The Yanks will have screwed over the Canadians yet again!!! Hiyo ni pesa kidogo compared to the potential!! Na sasa hawa Africa oil, Tullow increased their stake in Block 12A na yao iko reduced!!! Definition of operatorship: In the oil and gas industries, the right to operate a well, field or other oil source....hahaha hawa watu hawako serious, thats the only definition I'm getting. Lets just pray inamaanisha wanachafua mkono na tunasplit profits pamoja Quote: Africa Oil Corp. (“Africa Oil” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce that it has signed a definitive farmout agreement with Marathon Oil Corporation (“Marathon Oil”) whereby Marathon Oil will acquire the rights to obtain an interest in two of Africa Oil’s Kenyan exploration blocks. Under the terms of the farmout agreement, Marathon Oil will acquire a 50% interest in Block 9 and a 15% interest in Block 12A, both in Kenya. Africa Oil will maintain operatorship in Block 9, but Marathon Oil has the right to assume operatorship if a commercial discovery is made. In addition, Africa Oil and Marathon Oil have agreed to jointly pursue exploration activities on an additional exploration area in Ethiopia. The above transactions are all subject to host country Government approvals. The resulting interest in the Kenyan exploration blocks upon approvals and subsequent closing of the Marathon Oil farmout agreement, together with the completion of a separate farmout transaction with Tullow Oil plc (“Tullow”) (described below) will be as follows: Block 9 (Kenya) Africa Oil 50% Marathon Oil 50% Block 12A (Kenya) Africa Oil 20% Marathon Oil 15% Tullow 65% From Africa oil website"There are only two emotions in the market, hope & fear. No I'm asking if that $35 million is license fee or its the amount paid for the block? I guess we'll find out in due time. So before Marathon came onto the scene, Tullow and Africa oil split Block 9 50/50. So how does Tullow now have 65% ata kama Africa oil waliuzia Marathon, ama waliuzia Tullow pia???

Quote:Industry watchers are predicting Ngamia will be the biggest oil discovery of the year – and Tullow has only just begun work there. Nabwire did you know this? Quote:And earlier this month Lion Petroleum, which has ground-floor entry position in two key blocks in Kenya, finally sealed a deal to secure a public listing on the TSX and got away a C$11.5 million fund-raising. The company had battled for over 18 months to raise funding for frontier exploration in Kenya; post-Ngamia and it quickly secured a merger with TSX Venture-quoted Taipan Resources and raised C$11.5 million, ensuring the explorer is fully funded through its first phase work commitments. The company has now changed its name to Taipan Resources and is keen to capitalise on its early-mover position in Kenya. Quote:With all the acreage currently licensed the only way Big Oil can enter this play is through deal-making with existing players; Taipan’s 100 per cent owned Block 2B could prove a tempting entry point.
