Saw a sign for Smart TV somewhere near Nairobi Club and went to check on their website but the link for Kenya was not working. Any idea Jakogelo when that will be working? And on your decoders if I bought and change my mind can I use a different company's smart card instead of yours?

hi elder, they are still working on the website and by the time they'll be launching in a months time I'm sure it will be very ready. the smart boxes as u know are technological things, may be with time the Chinese will be able to open them so they may use other smart cards, but for now i don't think if u can use another smart card on it.
@gordon, i sent u mail, just check on it

And where do we buy these decoders from? is it plug & play since there's no installation? does it require a dish?

@K22 it looks like it's running on DTT (Digital Terrestrial TV) so all you will need is an outdoor aerial. Their coverage is only in Nairobi for now I believe.

@jokalego, many thanks for the mail. But 990/- for 8 channels can't compete with the basic offering by DSTV.

@K22, Grolut is right, it operates on DTT (digital terrestrial transmission) thus no dish, just need to tune your aerial to take the KBC signals, if u need one call me on 0724378253 or mail benonyach@gmail.com, i'll show you how to get one.
@gordon, in my view i dont think the channels are few for 990, these are jst introductory channels, they are bound to increase as time goes by on the constant 990, this is 33/= per day, on top you get to watch all the free to air channels. can u watch all the 8 channels or thereabout? i guess so, therefore value for money is guaranteed.

@Jakogelo I saw in one of the Dailies yesterday that some decoders belonging to Smart TV have been stolen. Are yours legit? That aside can the decoders record live TV. Like do they have PVR capability? If not do you supply ones that do?

These are just set top boxes to convert analogue signal to digital signal. Refer to 'Nation' Page 18 of yesterday (Thursday 23rd).

By the way with DSTV you dont need a set top box.

I have three decoders already. I am not ready for another one. I wish your service provider could sell the smart card for use with other top set boxes

@tebes, fine they are top set boxes but on top it has the pay channels it's selling, thus is u have this decoder u will be able to subscribe for the pay channels affordablly and value for money guaranteed coz you subscribe to entertainment channels that you can watch.
