Guys,some bit of advice,don't pay attention to the posts by TB. Obviously he's trying to get people worked up. From now on,ignore his posts and proceed to give positive solutions for our country

This does not feel like Mutahi Ngunyi,I find the writing not as well thought as he has been doing in the past. I would not expect him to directly attack Koffi Annan or Kenneth Marende like that. Blaming this 2 is more like escapism,they are not the problem,we all know what the problem is,and the question is do we want to solve it or are we happier to blame men of the calibre of Koffi Annan.

If its him,then he is terribly slipping.

I personally don't think Mungiki and like gangs are much of a threat. With the army never having left their barracks in anger and shown its hand,they remain a mystery and a deterent to most of the machete wielding drugged up youth. Unless the Mungiki acquire guns I will not lose any sleep.

Elsewhere.....

Former Mandera Central MP Billow Kerrow wondered why military personnel have not been sent to parts of Central Kenya to track down suspected Mungiki followers.He said Central Kenya was currently the most insecure part in the country yet no military has been sent there.'Why is it that the army has not been sent there?' he asked.

This piece is actually a typical Mutahi Ngunyi article given the style of writing,simple language and the usual short stories drawn primarily from the Roman empire. He once told Jeff Koinange that he likes to contradict normal societal opinions to provoke us to think differently and this is exactly what he's done. Eg. He's looked at marende's ruling and Kofi's interventions from a completely different angle. Makes interesting reading on a Sunday

@Simon

How about using military special forces like the U.S. did in Iraq during the surge. You declare curfew,clamp down on the goddamn place with the army and then send out special forces to flush out these thugs. Then you will see the real Kikuyu men who are currently afraid to fight mungiki come out and flush out these mungiki cowards within their midst. There are some brave men and women in Central ready to fight it out with mungiki,all they need is support from the inept Kiguoya government.

Out of interest,was this article published in the Nation,the more I re-read it the more it feels like the scare mails that made the rounds before last years PEV's

@Kamaa,I am not being naive,but I don't know if there are 1.5m Mungiki's and I don't know if they make Sh.500 per day,until this is confirmed with certainty I will ignore the rumour.

Now Mungiki is a threat to our countries security,but trying to suggest that they are capable of overthrowing the country's security apparatus without solid facts is naive.

And lets be honest here,TB is right to the extent that they are so far only operating in Central and parts of Nairobi and generally behaving like the sicilian mafia of yore that only targeted sicilians,even the mafia in the US only operated in areas with italian background and targeted the italians. Al Capone tried to take over Chicago and we all know what happened to him.

I am not going to talk down their threat or its ability to cause insecurity,can one of you in the know tell us how it should be tackled.
