Aiissh @VVS, I think you are mistaken on this one. In fact, when they talked about top paid CEOs in a PWC survey, I distinctly remember it being from Safaricom at the time.

For starters CEO, Deputy CEO, Company Secretary on KCB Bank board as executives.
For group all executive directors of companies would contribute to this total too.

@VVS, there are at least two executive directors if you have read the IM carefully. Non executive directors are 9.

Oops, you know I had read that but somehow I missed it when answering the query!

I was looking at 10.2 (Pageg 51) where only MOO is listed & not Samuel Kimani (who has ZERO shares too or so it seems!)

So there are 2 Exec directors earning 67.663mn on Page 86.

@muganda - I am not sure whether a Co. Sec is considered Exec Director or Board Member for these purposes.

I checked the 2009 Annual Report Note 10 (Page 67) & the amounts for the Group = Bank so it seems 68mn is split between MOO & SK.

The Group > Bank for Other Directors

@VVs, there is also an ED in Uganda but I am not sure whether he is part of the Group EDs.

..just a thought.. apart from The coop guy who owns quite a huge chunk of coop..and J Mwangi of equity...not all CEO's are huge investors of the compnies they run..
before castigating MOO (ati warrr?) (LoL)..may be we need to find out about all other counters and their CEO's.. ama? Its just fair.
on MOO (Tehehehe)..i think he and the Etemesi dude in stanchart are doing our banking industry proud! after the wrong held perceptions kenyans cannot profitably run multinationals!
I'm waiting to see if the EABL dude will out do Mahinda!

jamaa has UNDER-PERFORMED since he got in compared its peers! Even ultra-conservative Marambii at NBK has done better than MOO at KCB...

You can have a HUGE balance sheet lakini PAT counts the most! Of course & ROE...

BBK & SCBK outpace KCB every year! Equity's PAT would have out-paced KCB if not for the 2 recent Rights Issues!

@2012,

You will have to be very lucky to get KCB below 17 bob. When the big boys start to accumulate, you will be shocked to find kcb at 24 bob. you better start to pick a few now

After a lot of thought... I am going to sit this one out for now... I think it is fairly priced but what is my upside?

- 1H 2010 results are out & 16% y-o-y does not cut it compared to Equity or many other banks.
- MOO the CEO has ZERO shares
- SNK the deputy CEO has ZERO shares

I will watch from the sidelines & if the price falls to 17/- in the future... I might get back in...

Wanna bet? I think someone mentioned before the rights issue that KCB didn't wasn't clear in their communication of what their plans for the 15B were. They didn't seem to have a strategy. With all the other banks expanding and putting up new branches, I ask, where's this gap that's only exclusively available to KCB?

BBI will solve it

If i'm interested in KCB or if you are interested in companies that work at a snail's pace...i would wait until August when they announce the results of the rights when this dilution thing is cleared...but if dilution is nothing to you then go ahead...its a good company...
