He he he. I have not taken lunch yet and I'm not bitter. I just don't understand why someone should be suprised you are taking a course in Kenya. That's all.

You are welcome in Kenya. We don't discriminate. As of taking over Eastern Africa, no problem! If you can create a job for my neighbour, brother, sister etc., why not?? We actually send delegations out there to sweet talk "foreign investors". Glad you are already here. Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly

The crash report claims the pilot was at fault... He did not recognize the error & effectively crashed the plane...

I hope KQ has taken remedial steps to hire only properly trained pilots... The GoK (& pilots union) force KQ to hire only Kenyan pilots...

KQ is a GLOBAL airline & should be allowed to hire the best not just the best Kenya has...

KQ flies to China, India, UK, France, etc... and these destinations mean KQ needs to up its game...

@chaka and @VituVingiSana, I've just seen the report on the Wazua news page just next to the Notice Board at the bottom.

Kenya 737 crash: Poor airmanship led to disorientation
Flightglobal - Apr 28 02:26

Makes for interesting reading and yes the pilot is blamed. It seems the faults were:
-departing Douala in a bit of a hurry, in darkness without clearance
-behaved as if autopilot engaged even though it failed to activate
-despite poor external visuals, pilots failed to recognise, from the instrument panel, aircraft's increasing bank from 11° to 34° to the right
-surprised then panicked when alarm rang becoming disoriented thus aggravating the situation

Sad situation though...only 1min 42secs later.

This accident boils down to crew cooperation and especially how senior aircraft captains relate with their junior first officers and what role the company (operator)ensures that it is done. It is not surprising nor strange to find the age difference between between crew to be as much as 40 years. But you must understand that this is not necessary bad. A captain who is 64 years is very experienced and it is necessary that he passes on his skills to younger officers who would be 25 years or so.The problem is that this captain may think he /she is a Mr/Ms 'Know It All' and a young pilot, fresh from flight school knows little to point out a mistake by a captain. A number of accidents and especially if you've been watching air disasters on DSTV, have been pointed out by the copilots but only for the captain to say, 'I know or I can see'. So what is the remedy for this? A number of airlines are coming up with a new approach for the crew to call each other by first names and for copilot to take over control if a mistake is pointed out three times without action. Of course there is the problem of insubordination and this where the airline comes in to protect the young pilot.

Just wondering...could the captain have brought the plane down deliberately?

Not material coz it happened ages ago (material at the time)... plus pilot error not a systemic fault of KQ e.g. maintenance...

KQ is down... AGAIN... It seems the report has spooked investors...

So I started looking at WHY I have KQ... and what has changed since the accident & report was released...

After crunching the numbers... figuring a 400mn in additional costs (those not covered by insurance) for the crash victims...

I am staying put & looking at adding to my position soon!

Baron Rothschild, of the Rothschild banking family, said "The time to buy is when there's blood in the streets."

Rothschild made a fortune buying in the panic that followed the Battle of Waterloo against Napoleon. But that's not the whole story. The original quote is believed to be "Buy when there's blood in the streets, even if the blood is your own."

@GG - The stamp was so Jua Kali... then they cancelled the "Not valid for travel to the Republic of South Africa" stamp with a 'cancelled' stamp...

Well, at least now I can travel everywhere... as long as I have a degree...

@vitu - Quite a lovely quote. If one took it seriously, he/she would make tonnes of money. Take last year around march for example. Even the midiocre investor knew that most of stocks were grossly undervalued. How many people bought shares big time? And I mean BIG time! Very few. Even the guys who are shouting buy this, buy that, buy everything were no where to be seen. Remember KQ at 16/=? Less than three people were consistently advocating for it. At 60/= after one year? Different story. Safcon at 2.60/=? Equity at 10/=? EABL at 100/=? The list goes on and on. I understand those guys who didn't have the purchasing power maybe coz their money was tied up in the same stocks but the guys who run to government paper AFTER the market had hit the bottom...

@MB - I was in the same boat... I went to a bank to borrow using shares at collateral... wapi??? No interest...

Yet, now that prices are higher... I am sure they have an interest in lending against shares!
