We are in most cases as bad as our bosses. We feel bad that they do not take our opinions coz we are intolerant.

That is, you should look inwards and transform yourself. Then you can heal your boss and make the organization a better place to be, even for those who will come after you.

Why do bosses like harassing their hapless employees? Have you ever worked in a one man show work environment. You will be grateful if at the end of each day like I am now if you dont get a heart ailment.
Bosses/Masters know that there is a Master in Heaven. If you harass your helpless juniors ,the Master will harass you in one way or another.Guy's I'm looking for a Job in finance and administration. My current environment is slowly killing me .Please help .

@Grateful.. I feel for you.just plot your gateaway and get out of that place, its just not worth it. Remember high blood pressure is on the increase because of such characters who torment others for no reason.

You will die young and will develop a bad attitude towards work courtesy of this chap.

Let no one quote for you some fairy tale justification of an abusive boss, an abusive boss is an bad boss PERIOD, don't even bother changing him because you won't make it, just look for another job and leave.

In the meantime ignore the guy but in the event you leave make sure the guy and those above him / her know the reasons why you left.

You'll never survive in this world by running away. It's the worst ever possible solution to a problem.

I had a boss who was like that and the saddest thing was that he managed to get me fearful to the point where I could not see what other people saw that the guy was incompetent and his team (we) came up with all the ideas. Eventually we started standing up for ourselves and the company had to let him go and his position was scrapped as it was counter-productive. We became our own bosses. Hang in there and create the change you want to see after all, the worst he/she can do is fire you (which by now you're ready to live with) - not jail you.

BBI will solve it

Here is some advice i give to people in similar circumstances.

1. Recognize the worst that can happen
2. Accept what you cannot change and strive to change what you can
3. Do all that is within your power to prevent the situation from getting worse and to improve it.

Those are the three generic steps.

Further, you need to accpet your place in the organization. Do not strive to make decisions when you are not allowed, Instead find safe ways to pass your ideas to the boss even though he will eventually present them as his own. He will develop a soft spot for you.

I remember a story of a woman who had a really BOSSY boss. He would tell her: make tea for me and put two spoons sugar, then bring it and place it on my table. Once she does that, close the door behind you and go back to your desk etc etc. Her solution; the next time boss called her at the usual time for tea, she walked in briskly and b4 the boss started issuing his usual instructions, she said to the boss: Boss am going to make you tea, i'll put two spoons of sugar, bring it and place it on your table then am going to close the door behind me and walk back to my desk etc etc. Thank u boss ... with a smile. The boss never bothered her again thereafter! Hey, don't try this at your workplace! This was in the UK.
We make or break our own tomorrows today!

Do your job and do it well. Do it so well that even if your boss "hates" or "dislikes" you, he knows, for that aspect alone, he cant fire you. Then, stand for what you believe in. Dont be anyone's doormat. If your education certificates read "Prakash & Sons Only", then you are in trouble because it means you cant get a job elsewhere. If they dont and they read the institution/exam body that tested you, then, that's not the only place you can work. Plan your exit. But i can assure you, by the time you are ready to move, and with your work record, they'll be pleading with you to stay.

A job is a "business contract". I sell my brains/experience/diligence, but my integrity/dignity/self worth are not up for sale.
