@VVs. How I got to know the dude is even more scaring. When I went to Lions eye hospital in Loresho, one of the staff there pulled me aside and told me i could get the same glasses for 1/3 cost. I never regret the decision

LOL... Imagine that... And the Lions Camps are supposed to be 'free'... unless they use the proceeds to subsidise the camps themselves...

vvs. I think you have ignored or failed to see the point I was on. At this rate, these chinese dudes will station guys at peoples biasharas directing them to their cheaper alternatives, and the famed kuk business savy will be a thing of the past.....wasapere watandikwa na hawa

@Njung'e
no panic just that i smell the invasion way before..
The first insinuations started by fellows from the tourism industry..

The sino-tourists dont spend and dont tour.. they board a KQ yes.. then land in the country book one room, ask for the bed to be removed, they sleep on mats on the floor (thats like 5 of em)

When it comes to meals they only order for hot water at which they dip that slimy stuff of theirs..noodles, and call it a meal.

as a tourvan driver or hotel support staff you have to contend with more than enuff back aching bows instead of usual dollar bill tip.

as for their businesses they dont even hire your local 'njoroge' to drive those 'tipper' vehicles...

i like their frugal ways of doing biz..thats where the rest of the developed world is headed to if they are to compete favourably for contracts..the chinese were slow in catching up with capitalism but they are now re-defining it..

The problem with Kenyan professionals (as told to me by a Kenyan CEO) is that they want all the trappings of a good lifestyle without the hard work & scrimping!

Remember those Mhindis who lived above the shops?
Worked as a family unit keeping costs down as well as reduced theft?

The new Chinese immigrants will do the same...

The first rule of doing business in a foreign country/region is to learn the culture and language of the people... thats what these chinese guys are doing... there is one who runs a supermarket in DC (dagorrett corner). He is fluent in swahili and so are those who are doing the roads... i see most of them staying back after completing the their road contracts... besides, kenyans are very friendly people and easy to do business with... plus anything imported is always better than local - despite poor quality...
