Genesis of Tribalism (summery) as it was explained to me by a wise old man.
Forgive me if I'd posted it and you'd seen it before.

Just after independence,the most educated groups (by numbers) were the kikuyus and luos. They realised that the constitution gave the bearer of the main office ultimate power and they wanted it bad! They also knew they had the numbers. The rivalry was so bad that you were cursed if one married from the other tribe. But that was then. Didn't affect the nation much.

Then came Moi who was illiterate and naive. His advisors used his weakness against him to enrich themselves and impoverish the nation. Soon over 50% of the citizens were languishing in poverty. The regime now realized that their biggest threat was a tribe called ‘the poor’. I’m sure you can now see where this is going…
Do you remember ‘The Tower of Babel’ story? Moi perfected it by creating tribal chieftains who were adored. Remember how every year the tribes would take turns to statehouse to receive goodies?

So my friends,tribalism was not meant for you and me but for the poor - to divide them while the 'leaders' continue to steal their resourses and that’s why you didn’t think of going to chop your neighbour’s head after the elections nor are you enemies with your workmate with different political vies from yours. So us guys in here have no idea of what we’re talking about or how dangerous this weapon/virus called tribalism is. We're just spoilt kids playing with fire coz it looks nice.
