I bought this stock at 17.25 in mid 2015. I'm looking at over 75% loss on that trade.
I should just have drunk that money or put it in the sacco or created a sportpesa account. It's just ridiculous!

Why not consider averaging down?

I'm considering to exit the market for now. Of all my 2015 trades, only kcb has positive price gains and even that is 14%.
The NSE isn't a good consideration as a short term parking for money.

If you invested that money in Cytonn. In 3 years u would have made a net of 45% (18% is before tax)

It wasn't a big enough investment to attract the Cytonn money managers. If only we could predict the future. Market outcomes are a matter of hindsight.

S/He might have to buy even more shares than his original purchase to average down effectively.

Sure. The challenge with averaging down comes about when you are already deep inside with both feet; otherwise it should be possible over time. You can take heart in the fact that Kenya Power isn't going anywhere in the foreseeable future (until the law changes to intro competition in electricity vending), which could give you time to average down and perhaps exit at a profit.

I just cannot distinguish what is generally wrong with this company? It is posting decreased profits but sales are up. Electricity business has always been good business as costs of operations should be relatively constant and market is relatively stable as everybody needs electricity

There are only two emotions in the stock market, fear and hope. The problem is, you hope when you should fear and fear when you should hope
