Thakkar just doubled his wealth in less than 6 months. Pity he can't sell coz that would lead to loss of control.

Thakrar is a smart guy. His plan is to exit ScanGroup in an orderly fashion... Succession planning?

Unlike some founders he does not plan to die with the Company! Or put the Company in a spot where it dies just after he dies or leaves!

Look at the crooks in Olympia...

@ youcant - Thakrar has 19.41% after the most recent acquisition that diluted his holding from 20.63%.

He now has 45.5M shares. At a price of 63 that puts his worth at Ksh2.8B.

BTW for those who reviwed the Proforma Consolidated income statement from Scan, it put the profit to shareholders at 430M up from 399M as at Dec 09.That gives an adjusted EPS of 1.83.

If they grow this by 40% (very generous), the EPS as at Dec 10 will be 2.6.

That tells us that still at 62 the PE will be at 24.

That said I hold the opinion that the price should be under 50.

Im a big believer of this counter. I bought quite a number at 25/- sold half at 35 and the other half at 55/-. My question is; is scangroup a good buy @64/-? I can bet you the most you'll get in dividend is btwn 1-1.50/-
I honestly think scangroup should be trading at 40/-. What do you all think?

BBI will solve it

Its opened at 64.5 today but i still think this counter is way too overheated...
I'm pretty sure many guys buying at these levels are going to be burnt seriously Sad

I think people are buying Scan groups Pan African drive...if you look at it Scan is no longer an East African company...

@guru look at it this way if they win a contract from Bharti instead of billing for E.A they will now bill for for the whole of Africa..definitely the merger with Ogilivy will have a big positive impact on Scan's 2011 bottom line...but in T.A terms its overbought...but at 50 i will venture..

Regardless of what all of us are thinking, the stock heads higher and higher. Anyone riding the momentum on fantasy market?

That's not entirely correct. Ogilvy SA won the Bharti Africa business and as expected they use their Ogily network to harmonize the brand throughout Africa meaning if they need to do work for Bharti in Nigeria they'll use Ogilvy Action - Nigeria. The proceeds don't go to Scangroup.

The utimate goal of investing is to buy low sell high;if we re-write this core equation in psychology terms it becomes buy fear sell greed.

Got out yesterday at 65 after 103% gain. Was shocked to see 67.50 today, but I'm not complaining. Hope to get back in after announcement in April/May '11

Touched 70 and still going up? Wat am I not seeing? With an expected 40% increase in profit I am still convinced its over priced! What your take? Its time to offload, ama vipi?
