made the mistake of not giving my kid a 'christian' or 'english' name. the curious stares and questions we received from friends and relatives always cracked me up. ukipeleka mtoto clinic, the nurses ask when you intend to give the kid 'that other name' hehehe.

Kwanza these yuckish names we give kids these days. Borrowed from North America & Europe, some fellows believe you aren't Christian enough if you don't have some of these mitumba names. I call them mitumba because I just don't get why we should fall over ourselves competing on who comes up with the hottest name for their baby when all those names are just borrowed from another culture and mostly have zilch to do with your faithSad

Why do you say it was a mistake? For me, that is a choice!!!

It was King Henry the eighth not Edward. Again saying that getting an heir via a marriage without papal consent is like a hyperbole. Church history is more intricate than that.

The other thing is that you are passing a value judgment on an action. But what's the basis of this judgment? Is it innate and universal? How did you pick it up?

Laments of 'so and so does not like us' or 'this race does not like Africans' always leave me a bit irritated. The need to be liked or respected is bondage. Africans shouldn't care that whites, asians or arabs don't like us, as long as they do not harm us or violate rights it is irrelevant (if this is not the case, this is a matter for the law). Respect especially, is not something you can demand. Being paid respect comes in part from respecting yourself, which in great part also constitutes not whining after other people's favor and affection.
Ability is a currency that is respected everywhere, and we are capable of it. Remember that spell when Kenya didn't need IFC/IMF loans to balance its recurrent budget? Those 2 arrogant institutions got uncomfortable and took notice. I was also proud of Kibaki when western diplomats suddenly found themselves with no levers to push with State House. Just goes to show ...

Despite the numbers, the trigger could still have been Africans. Ratios also matter in terms of overall attendance! smile

FACT CHECK SOURCES

Quote:
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria has confirmed the death of 54 Nigerians in the deadly stampede in Mina, Saudi Arabia, during this year’s Hajj.

The Chairman of NAHCO, Alhaji Abdullahi Muktar Mohammed, made the confirmation on Monday morning (12:16 am) in Makkah.

According to him, 42 out of the 54 that died were from states pilgrims welfare board including two NAHCON officials, while others were among those on the pilgrimage by private tour operators.

He also listed 15 states of Bauchi, Borno, Zamfara, Cross River, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Sokoto, Taraba and Yobe as those that lost pilgrims to the stampede.

by the way that decision has had multiple repercussions.. the proper escalation of beef with the irish can be traced to this decision.

@ Hardwood, But also why should an individual's (David's) earthly carnal cravings (Uriah's wife, out of which King Solomon was born) determine the spiritual path that you take. 2500 yrs later?
