Whoever is proping up this share is doing a fairly good job.......Foreign investors yesterday damped Kshs 18,473,295 worth of shares against about Kshs 7.3 bought......i suppose they did so with good reason.

With over 3.7B shares in the market its highly unlikely shareholders will get anything near the 3 bob they earned this year......But then again,if you are the master of 'ponzi schemes' it shouldn't be too hard to fool the common folk and prey on their lack of access to info.....Which begs the 3.7B share question; For how long can one prop up this share?

If someone sell 18M shares doesnt mean the share is about to fall. Contrary if 18M shares were sold and the price still went up gives the opposite signal.

Maybe he just needed to pay a loan or something needing cash.

Your theory on dividend payment after the share split is invalid.

@TAZ

Why? pray may i ask is it not valid.The primary objective you invest in a Co. is to earn dividend for EACH share bought ! But then again,i wouldn't rule out the likes of you who's sole objective is sentimental reasons....but do i say?

The Primary objective one invests with a growth company like Equity Bank or Access Kenya is for capital appreciation and not dividends.

If you want dividends use dividend yield ratio to identify this and get into the likes of BAT and Total at the 'right time'.

For growth stocks,enjoy the fruits of growth via share price appreciation.

@donedeal. After split it's KSh 0.30.

Ecs 11.2 Give portions to seven,yes to eight,for you do not know what disaster may come upon the land.

@donedeal. I hope u see the invalidity though EB,as Ecstacy rightly points out,is not just about dividends.

Let's see the 1st Q results to see if the company is doing well in these hard times. I know people in the banking industry and I expect that a lot of them will post reductions in profit from last year.

Some people are beating up EB for all the wrong reasons. A company doesn't have feelings - if its good over the long term its results will be obvious. I'm sure that nobody would invest solely for sentimental reasons! You're here to make money,get rich and drive off with the beautiful woman.

So let's get feelings/emotions out of this. Let's work with facts and figures. Based on my analysis of this bank I'm staying with it for atleast 5 years - I'm waiting until we get to South Africa and list on the JSE then maybe by then I will bail out after making a tidy profit. And I'm all in as long as the facts and figures continue to make sense.

@ecstacy & Jerry

The primary objective,key word being primary,when you invest in a company whether listed or otherwise must most certainly be the yield one gets from the investment which is what we refer to as dividend. Capital appreciation is a secondary objective. If ecstacy & jerry invested in a Co. where they had equal shareholding,their PRIMARY objective would be the yield they would earn from this investment. I would choose to think that the Capital appreciation is a function of dividend and not the reverse making it the secondary objective but I suppose the equity 'Ponzi modo' works differently.

Be-as-it-may,the elephant in the room still is; for how long can one prop up this share?.

While others ask WHY THIS? WHY THAT? Let speculators ride the market and enjoy the fruits.

But you shall remember the LORD your God,for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth,that He may confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers,as it is this day. Deu 8:18
