This is no trouble but much expected change which was waaaaaaaaaay overdue.

Some Wazuan pointed out that the outgoing CEO had become nothing more than a motivational speaker. Organizing conferences everywhere but doing little to grow NMG bottom line.

Hi all,

I thought I'd add my armchair analysis to the discussion of NMG's results. smile

Should Nation Media Group Be in Your Portfolio?

Would love to hear your thoughts regarding my growth assumptions. Am I too pessimistic?

Happy investing!

Ryan

a very sober piece. that's the kind of pessimism needed especially for these large bluechips

ICPAK AGM at the same time as NMG AGM.
ICPAK at Ruaraka, NMG at KICC
ICPAK lunch after the AGM, NMG before
ICPAK lunch cafeteria system, NMG three course
ICPAK has NO goodies, NMG has bag, polo shirt, all the days papers

Tough choice, dont you think?

Chami attends NMG one but not ICPAK one. His several years of activisim seems have paid off. Someone jocked about the goodies being more valuable to come shareholders than the dividend.

Would you Recommend me to buy NMG at 185/-? it seems like the lowest its reached in recent times, although it may go lower. Wonder what the turn around point would be.. Any Insights on this Counter??

Did you peruse their results for 2014? Do you foresee any better results this year from NMG? I'm sure the answer is quite clear.

They are on Radio and TV too and not only in Kenya but in Rwanda and Uganda including N-soko etc. Newspapers can make money if they get smart thats why I said wait for Linus to leave...the man is not creative..sorry to say. Nsoko should have been the money maker by now...how do you explain the rise and rise of OLX yet N-soko has been there all this while.

The answer:
I&M Safaricom travel card
Equity/Google BebaPay*
NMG Hela card
KCB/DTB Nakumatt card
Mi-Card
ChaseBank UNII
KU Card
Safaricom My1963 card
Equity Prepaid card
KCB Pepea card
NBK Na3 card
Coop MNauli card
Etc etc etc.

Conclusion: Prepaid cards have grown 9X fold in 1 year. Alas, their transactions in number/value make up an almost zero 0.03% of the total.
