AMF will not work where computers are concerned.

What you need is an IN-LINE (as opposed to and on-line) UPS...most the ones we buy for stand alone PCs are IN-LINE.

In-line means that the power from KPLC (240V_AC) goes into the UPs where it is first stepped down to 6V_AC by a transformer; then it is converted from AC to DC and fed into a 6V battery.

The 6V from the battery then goes to the built-in inverter where it is converted from DC to AC; then on to a second transformer and stepped up to 240v_AC which now powers your equipment.

With this arrangement, when KPLC goes off (or even fluctuates),there is absolutely NO interruption on the power flowing to your equipment. Reason being that your equipment are getting power from the battery, not directly from KPLC.

The only thing you need to establish is the power rating of your equipment (so that the trasnformers are able to handle it without blowing up) and the duration you need to keep the equipment running before the generator kicks in or out.

Whom ever you chose to do the job for you must be careful never to run the generator at the same time as KPLC.....if than happens you could get yourself a big fire...like the one at Nakumatt!!!

Reime Kenya builds these kinds of systems for SCOM and ZAIN base transmitters....but actually, they sub-contract other companies to do the work!!!!

One of the sub contractors is Electrical Distributors Ltd....talk to a gu called Amrish (0722829105) or Omosh (0733588551)....these guys are the ones who also installed the hybrid power supply (with solar panels, wind turbines and diesel generators) for Orange Telkom BTSs.

BTW; Once you have the power back-up running,Automating the generator should cost you under 100k....then you don't have to keep going out to switch on and off!!

Behind the gardens...Behind the wall...Under the tree (Including: Red...Dark Blue...Yellow)
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.
