@luxel 'those without cars trying to justify their failures' - bollocks I say. Just for the record,I got my first car at 27 and 8 months later another car....and I kept both for at least 4 years. So bollocks to you. Its a very peurile stand point - here is an example to show how we have been led to believe that having a car means you have 'arrived'....whenever we have visitors from abroad, esp of the fair kind with blue eyes and white skin....most of our brethren seem embarrased to admit they do not drive (and some may even hire cars just for show)....like someone pointed out,in NY very few people own cars, even in the upper middle class - the commute is a nightmare and running a car very expensive...so they take the train, they take cabs (and am sure if they had mats, they'd take those too).
Mukiha, well nailed. And while on cars,I get really amused to see someone driving a 'standard issue toyota' which costs abt 400k,with a 60k phone (with a blue tooth gadget affixed to his face)....then he lives in some average estate ....talk of priorities and creating impressions....just like the guy with a 4.6 range - he is certainly worse off than the lady who sells nyamchom at westlands market (she has a beaten up nissan pickup,OWNS her house, and is seeing her last kid through uni...you frown upon her with your ex singapore BMW....you are single...your rent...you have barely arrived...
The problem with equality is that we desire that it be with those that have more than us rather that those that have less
