You've already made the first step towards quiting. Just acnowledging that you have a drinking problem and would like to quit is bold enough a move and a step towards the right direction. In case you do not find the book,do not stop there, you can still quit as long as you put your mind to it. Firstly, keep off your drunkard buddies(i mean keep off,not kosana with them) because, they wil never help you stop. Find something to do in place of the drinking hours, something constructive or entertaining or even you could choose to volunteer someplace, and with time, you will get away from liquor. But do not expect to quit completely overnight! It's a gradual process. Every once in a while you might find yourself in compromising situations...that should not spell defeat for your battle. Soldier on and with Will power and a focused mind. You will come out clean.
You can leave your contacts just in case someone comes across the book... I wish you all the best in this battle. It's a rough road especially if most of the people you spend time with are drunkards. But,if you WANT to quit, you WILL
