what is the starting point, is there a formula eg equity is starting a new biz how do price that or you just use their previous earnings?
No one knows how the new business will perform. You take a gamble, if it pays well and good.
finaly how do you tell the quality of management if you dont deal with the company day to day? Life is short. Live passionately.

@target. you have stumbled on a home truth their let no one and nothing change your mind. as long as company is performing well and management is good and trustworthy. HOLD! The investor's chief problem - and even his worst enemy - is likely to be himself

This was and is his only stock holding. I suggested to him to offload about 800 of them @320 by then and buy into two or all of Eqty@31, Unga@16, coop @16 and remain with the 500. He replied that these stocks would take sooo long to reach to 300 as stan chart. Also the dividends is good enough. and that he's holding them to transfer to his.son when value will be higher. Recently I met him after selling my Eqty shares to@45 having taken dividends too,his stan chart was "dancing" in 293-300 where I/he could buy more now. Stan chart is a good company he's holding and he'll never sell. Everybody STEALS, a THIEF is one who's CAUGHT stealing something of LITTLE VALUE. !!!
