Precious girls high school is an extra county school. According to ministry of education guidelines students should have been admitted as follows...
1. Kilungu district...20% ... 19 students
2. Makueni county... 40% ...38 students
3. Rest of kenya...40%...37 students
This is how the intake was
1. Kilungu district...1 student
2. Makueni county...17 students
3.Rest of kenya...72 students..
????????
I think this was the case with Nyeri county that's why they went to court.
It would be interesting to know who the 72 from the rest of Kenya are, will not be surprised if it is the who is who.
Nairobi county alone has 44 students...
...The students from Makueni county passed so well. So the question of whether they merited to be selected or not is out.
Hakuna maneno ya merit hapa... the school should first and foremost benefit the residents, then the county and the rest of the country in that order!! otherwise where are the kilungu/makueni students supposed to go? Huyu Kaimenyi angolewe pap!!
Incidentally, some teachers I have met argue that often times, when too many students admitted come from the same area and share the same vernacular, they end up using vernacular to communicate amongst themselves and as a result, performance in languages tends to suffer.
Life is like playing a violin solo in public and learning the instrument as one goes on.
