Kenyan coffee prices rose to the highest this year with beans
said to be good quality.
The average price for all coffee sold at the auction yesterday
climbed almost 11 percent to $232.74 per bag from $210.30 a
week earlier, the Nairobi Coffee Exchange said by e-mail. The
benchmark AA rose 20 percent to $394.84 a bag.
“The quality was very good,” Kizito Keya, a coffee trader at
Mumba Coffee Ltd., said by phone. “The crop is coming from
the central region.”
Sales rose 5.7 percent to 14,905 bags worth $4.22 million from
14,012 bags valued at $3.6 million last week, the exchange
said. Supplies at the auction rose 13 percent 27,346 bags.
