Those eggs were 20-30 bob before this fad.. the then farmers were unknown and just sufficient for their market.

then i think they decided its time to make a kill.
the trainers made their kill
those who sold chics made their kill
those who sold incubators made their kill
when the eggs were going for 100bob.. guys made super super profits..
That egg all costs factored can still be sold at 9 shillings like chicken eggs and the farmer would still turn a profit..

what mesmerises me is the marketing.. I think we have a good population suffering from all sorts of diseases and in need of hope, and the other group that likes landing, in need of energy...because all products marketed as a cure for some serious diseases like HIV and a booster for libido do really sell.

I am sure if we picked up something here as Wazua and marketed it as a cure for diseases and aphrodisiac we shall have ourselves a kill... there is a silent population ready for those products.

I was hoping he is making 2k per day by selling eggs at 80 bob.........

This therefore goes to confirm there is solid, long lasting demand for the mayais!

160k daily, and the demand is staggering. There is still money to be made for those who jumped in early, but the day of reckoning for freshers cannot be far off, maybe in 1 year......but then remember these things start laying at 3 wks old!...or so I heard.

Quick calculations show that if sold at 3 bob, there is still some good profit, assuming a modest daily expenditure of 2 bob per quail.

I have heard of the successfull i am selling stories. What I haven't heard is WHO THE HECK ARE THE BUYERS???????

I have heard of older farmers selling to newer farmers who in turn sell to newbies as well. The retails market is what I cant figure out.

A buddy of mine is among the few last ones minting money, selling to new entrants. and he knows the next phase will be the retails mkt. by then the eggs will be going at 20bob or 10bob. They have already skimmed the top

Where is your buddy selling the eggs @simonkabz?

To newbies. The large, curious crowd of interested "quailvestors" at his home make the venture a scary one.

Pierce, I also know of a good number who consume daily. If the benefits prove true, the market may expand n the business levels out to normal levels like kuku biz, with egg prices stabilizing below 10 bob......depending on the dd/ss forces. If it emerges to be a farce, kwisha!

My uncle visited last week and was telling us how some "prescriptions" are circulating back in the village... apparently, for each particular disease (well all the diseases) you take 240 egs. You take 3 on first day, 4 second day and 5 on consecutive days until 240 of them are over.... It's just crazy!!!

Soon, if we dont find over infestation of these birds flying all over for lack of market, we will have a very obese nation... Cholesterol nayo? These things are being fed chick mash... the same of the kuku porno, not so?

@Klan, Hiyo ni coincidence... can you check the level of cholesterol usikuwe unaua jamii pole pole....

What kind of misinformation is this to prey on the sick? This reminds of those quack 'doctors' you will find displaying kitunguu, garlic, onions, spinach etc on the pavement while praising the medicinal properties of each vegetable...

One would actually think we have health workers on the ground because someone in government should have come in to alert the people.... Has any of the government arm tested these medicinal properties and ascertained that Kenyans are not being conned and put at a health risk? Naaaah.. this digital government doesn't have a signal huko mashinani... only on super highways...

Where is Moha and Allen... may be they can do some "investigate"..... and get these things tested and give us a good documentary.... and hopefully, put a spotlight at where and who's been sleeping on the job all this time... Is there a government policy on some of these things?

That supermarkets are stocking them and selling at 720/= for a tray of 6 pieces means they have consumers hence demand.

Kwanza that Nakumatt hapo Nyayo clears stock almost daily.

And if those figures being mentioned are anything to go by, then it means even at 20/= an egg one will still be in business.

When the hype dies and supernormal profits disappear then at least we shall have a new addition in our diet. Those who rushed in for the money will get out and others will be content with the little they make and so the bird and its eggs are here to stay.

For me its a good thing and maybe something for youth employment.

The next frontier should be export market.Shaina maybe
