Just this morning I read somewhere that Ethiopia is repatriating all its illegal migrant workers in Saudi Arabia due to mistreatment.

Mistreatment/torture/urban day slavery is a reality in the middle east!!!!! Dont even try to argue otherwise. What I won't do however, is try to link it with Islam, that would be a generalization and not factual.

As much as @Doti had jumped into defending the Saudis.. i also keep asking the question. Why do people, especially the unskilled or lowly skilled, after being used, participating and being part of vices for years in their own countries (tribalism, genocides etc etc)pay huge sums of money to go or be smuggled into other countries.

and note im talking of West Africans into Italia and Spain
Those from the East, Eritrians going into Israel..
Kenyans going to the West and elsewhere

some of this immigrants take their worst of behaviours into countries where the natives have worked hard to prosper. e.g Nigerians in Europe, Somalis in Norske countries. Eastern Europeans into the EU..

Some North Africans in France dont even want 'Assimilando' anymore they just want to spread Islam and a radical form of it.

watu, especially if you are not being begged by host nation to go there (skilled labour)wakae kwao, wajenge kwao.. kama kuna shida wabaki huko.. most of them are the petty kumbafus responsible for the worst leadership in their countries.

Very valid points @pound watu wakae kwao wazidevelop.
What irks about the Mid Easterners is how inhumanly they treat the foreigners who go to work there.

A fortnight ago, we were told right here that forbidding women from driving was a MISINTEPRETATION of the faith!

Very confusing over who to trust on interpretation as the faith is domiciled there and only spread here much later.

I am sure they would puke on the idea of latter day converts trying to teach them what they consider theirs!

@Nandwa who told you that forbiding women to drive in Saudia is misrepresentation of faith? Please quote. I'm waiting... smile Anxious

As for driving, women in Islam have a right to move, to go out, for their needs. And if there is need for them to drive, the society has to provide safe & secure environment for them.

Of course, in some places they have not allowed them to drive because they are afraid that women may encounter difficulty and some problem.
Not because Islam forbids them. That is only there for their own circumstances, only for their own social structure that they forbid that.
For example, in China, women are not allowed to ride motorbikes. Did you know that? And do you agree with that? May be not. So you realized that it is their own circumstances, and they know better why.

You know most of the Muslim countries have not forbidden women from driving. They do drive. Nobody says it is forbidden or it is haram in Islam.

Just understand that in some areas at certain times, people may do that. You may agree with them or you may not agree with them. But that's their own particular circumstance, but it has nothing to do with shariah or Islamic law.

Shariah law is universal law.
And universal law has not forbiden anybody from driving, as long as that person knows how to drive, and vehicle is in right condition and those road rules.

So I hope this is clear to all concerned.

Just as absolute power corrupts leaders, so does absolute fanaticism blind the people from logic

@Nandwa so where did I say it's a misrepresentation of faith? Where are you reading this from?

In Saudi, an ambulance cannot be sent to pick up a sick woman unless she has a male relative who cannot marry her (maharam) with her. Just another day in the Magic Kingdom.

Girls in middle East asked for sexual favours by Kenyansat the consulates for seeking help

Very sad!

Quote:
Young women seeking help at Kenyan consulates in the Middle East are sexually exploited, a task force heard yesterday

Quote:
lue Arrow director Michael Mbugua said security officers at consulate entries allegedly demand Sh2,400 to allow anyone inside.

A person looking for help is required to pay around Sh24,000, failing which they are thrown out.

Mbugua said the women become more vulnerable after they are chased from the office, leading to arrests by local authorities.

Police then suspect them of being vagabonds or they are kidnapped by criminals.

He said it is almost impossible for recruitment agencies to monitor the welfare of the migrant workers.

Mbugua said even the agenciesโ€™ staff face the same problems.

Speaking at the KICC, Foreign Affairs ministry representative in the task force Zachary Mwita admitted to the malpractices at the embassies and the local offices.

If Obiero did it, Who Am I?
