D32 is giving useful do-able everyday tips for everyone but you find the very people who can benefit from them complaining.

The very people for whom the service is being provided for trampling it in the dust!

Nabwire - not meant for 'some people'
Murchr - 'my' teacher this, 'my' teacher that
Mukiri - its not 'my' responsibility; it's someone else's if he doesn't chip in I can't and wont'.
Rollout - 'we' can't do it.

Botheration!

D32, thank you for these important and quite useful tips. Just what I needed on Monday morning.

@Muriel, In this country of ours, any ill is justified by the very people you would expect some dynamism from.

Be it corruption, dirty neighborhoods, pathetic driving on our roads, complacency at work place, laziness etc etc.
It's reached a point where, a wrong answer doesn't matter, so long as it makes one happy.

Apathy is probably our main problem.

If the neighbours were concerned.
If the doctors were diligent.
If the police were responsive.

This poor girl would be probably not be where she is today or at the very least, the rapists, negligent police and health providers would have been reprimanded.

After some observations:

Work:
- Do a good work to your best ability, no matter how small it is.

Community:
- Be regularly involved in a humanitarian cause at any capacity.

Health - Mind your Health:
- Health cannot be over emphasized.
- People are aging fast. Looking much older than they really are, when small things can be done to improve health and slow down aging.
- Most of your health is determined by your decisions.
- Replace unhealthy fats with healthy fats. Learn the difference.
- Let your meals come out of organic, unrefined foods. Grains, seeds, nuts, fruits, legumes, vegetables.
- Good habits: Drink plenty of water, exercise, rest / sleep, do not eat between meals, sleep with an empty stomach after food has been digested.
- You do not have to drink alcohol, as the culture portrays it as normal. Let go of the liquor and you'll free-up or open-up new corridors in your life experience. Alcohol sucks up creative energy, and tends to bring about lethargy.

Local TV:
- The main things that I watch regularly in Local TV is news at 9, and / or the morning shows, would like to watch more, but there's hardly anything to watch.
- The Local TV stations may complain of a shortage of local content, yet they hurry guests so that the morning show can come to an end, only to bring some foreign drama shows.
- Why not get another crew to take it till lunch, then another set of crew to handle from lunch till about 3, then another to take it till the evening?
- Just add some investment for more producers & some intelligent presenters who can handle live tv.
- There are still loads of folk looking for employment, while foreign drama shows are taking up broadcast time, while broadcasters are complaining of a lack of local content, besides, there are loads of folk who can produce local content, the tv stations just need to offer a good price.
- TV stations copy each other, it takes just one to do it right.
- Regarding studio lighting, the purpose for the light is to illumine the subject, the subject's skin is not supposed to reflect the light. Get a light diffuser / softener.
- Some ugly things that happens on TV when presenters and / or guests:
- Talk concurrently
- Interrupt someone's talk.
- Shout / raise their voices
- Talk very slowly or very fast
- Try to sound smarter than the other(s).
- Are rude at each other (E.g. via body language - fake coughs, head scratching etc...)

Deportment:
- Be nice people:
- Be Courteous, graceful, kind, gentle...

Leaders:
- Be diplomatic, dignified & do your work.

Surroundings
- Beautify your home or work place, both the exterior and interior. In many cases the interior is usually done well, but the exterior is the one that is usually neglected, sad. Plant some good grass / trees, water the grass, mown the grass, have neat walk ways & drive ways, grow flowers, paint walls / fences / houses / apartments, and other buildings. Just make the environment pleasant to the eye. Let it not be an eyesore. Small things such as beautifying the surroundings just improves the mood and makes the experience a whole lot better.

Speech
- Speak well. I often hear reputable media personalities say two words instead of one word. E.g.
- Sep-Tember - September
- Aah-Beeuse - Abuse
- Sah-Pot - Support
- Sah-Price - Surprise

Music:
- There are more dimensions to music besides the drumline and the singing. In alot of music, almost all that you hear is just the singing and the drumline. Learn how to make music with other instruments.
- Make high quality productions, such that they can be enjoyed internationally. Being an international artist largely depends on making high quality music.
- If the production is not good enough - dump it.
- If your producer is not good enough - dump him or her.
- There's NOT enough good local soul & folk music. Other artists around the world make high quality indigenous music, and are known internationally. Their music communicates the emotion. It is pleasant to the ear and spirit.
- For the sake of everyone, please master the music professionally. When listening to music, some folk like myself actually create time for it, stop everything else, and focus on absorbing the full sound spectrum via high-fidelity audio gear. A good song that has been poorly mastered is a distaste, and is one of the reasons why folk are not going international, and is one of the reasons why most of what I listen to is not local.
- There are other genres to explore, including instrumental music. Both live and none live.
- Very few musicians understand music theory and can sing notes.
- Any classical music composers out there?
- Have high quality music videos:

Radio
- Stations need to do more talk shows, with relevant, concrete topics.

Telecommunications:
- We need cheap, reliable, fast and unmetered fiber connections at home.

Other
- Make people happy
- Help someone get a job or be self-employed
- Go Mountain biking
- Go Hiking
- Go Camping
- Go Explore Kenya and other countries
- Give gifts

you are wolf in sheep's clothing while @kiash is a Wolf in Wolf's clothing. great points though smile
i.am.back!!!!

All this depends on the first teacher. Not all of us were taught by the same Mrs. Kamau, and the above refered must have gone thru Mrs. Kalonzo. As long as you can understand then no problem. Another thing, you may want to refer to the dictionary as to how these words are pronounced.

languages metamorphosize!
Water.. WaRRer?
Betty...BeRRy?
No one is wrong as long as we communicate an idea successfully.

@murchr Yes the communication does come through, but it's nicer if it comes out correctly. Will refer to the dictionary next time.

@masukuma Just like to emphasize that it was not about accent, but the fact that folk be saying two distinct words instead of one word.

when we go to their landmasses I agree - we have to be understood. but here? really? unless you are travelling out of the country of which not many of us do... WHO CARES? we deduce in context without thinking - we have been optimized to do that...for the rest can fly a kite!
hat, heart, hut, hurt...
but, bat....
heard, herd, had, hard...
all sound the same to us and we know it! but we know exactly what you mean IN CONTEXT (it's like we have a context coprocessor)
All Mushrooms are edible! Some Mushroom are only edible ONCE!

@masukuma, And on another thread you wondered why Africa is poor.

You have your answers, the red parts.
Nobody cares and everything is the same. Whether you do your duty or not, a doctor treats or doesn't,contractor completes a road or doesn't, we have our priorities right or we don't, we do the right thing or we don't,

IT'S ALL THE SAME FOR WE CARE NOT.

Yes, Mkeiyd.

Make that wrong and lazy answers don't matter, so long as it makes one happy.
