Asanteni I wanted to study economics but my old man told me "well it wont make you rich but at least you will understand why we are poor"...never forgot those words It's a good thing your dad was not Kibaki's dad!!! @AlphDoti - The last time I checked KU was in problems with the Engineering Board for starting Engineering courses without a single qualified lecturer in the areas of specialization, no labs etc. Did they ever sort that out? And how serious is their Computer Science program? KU have a habit of combining classes across departments - even practical oriented units - totally compromising quality!! You might end up with a class of 350 students being taught JAVA with a microphone!!! Do some investigation on these before choosing KU. Never count on making a good sale. What are these professional papers? My 1st and 2nd degrees are both in Applied statistics, and so far, i do not regret. My changed my course of admission though. Using a variety of commercial software, graduates are expected to analyze real-world data appropriately and communicate their findings effectively.Statistical analysis is an indispensable component of many industries. A diverse range of government agencies, banks, pharmaceutical companies, consulting firms and financial companies just to name a few provides ample employment opportunities for statisticians. BTW, we need statisticians. everywhere. Check out and upcoming education fair in Sarit centre on 2nd - 5th May 2012 and another one for all public Universities some times June or July.

She will end up doing sociology, psychology and the likes. Math (A) Bio (A) Chem (A) His & Gov (A) Geog (A) Eng (A-) Physics (B+) Kisw (B) VERY ambitious. I remember we were adviced, VERY many years ago in high school, that for option 3 and 4 to choose courses that do not need a very high weighted average. Just in case. JAB is quite annoying! He/She can miss out on ALL those choices! Say, there are 1000 students who applied for Medicine at 48 points, and Medicine only has 200 slots. 200 get MED and the rest get 2nd choices. So if their 2nd choices are Comp Science and there are 200 slots, then the guys who chose Comp Science as first choice will be bumped off to accommodate these candidates who got higher grades. And so no... Set out to correct the world's wrongs and you will most certainly wind up adding to them.

Economics and Stats is a good combination if you are looking for a career in the following: -Economist (CBK, KIPRA, lecturer, some of the big banks) -Econometrician-ditto -Development economics (you may need further studies for this)-NGOs -Economics research-same as above two -Equity analyst working for any of the 20 or so brokers and fund managers. To get other more lucrative positions, they'll need another qualification Sehemu ndio nyumba

Also, we tend to concentrate on UON, KU & JKUAT, therefore pushing the cluster points of particular courses very high. We also need to consider other Universities who offer similar or same courses, but cluster points may be lower. Other Universities include: Maseno, JOOST, Masinde Muliro etc

Anyway my point was, She must have done her background check before she came to appreciate the course on her own. I cant over emphasize on the importance of these qualification, may be just may be one need to look at the requirements of any serious job offered by such organization as UNDP

I'm especially curious about this BBIT To some extent the first degree does 'open' ones mind to think on a wholistic approach Let her take the degree of choice in any of the 22 universities. I have a pal who is a marketer and doing well financially but did BA (baba alinituma) English & literature for 1st degree before pursing some business MGT under KIM. On other related matter, I have noted in atleast 3 universities, most of students taking BCOM avoid accounting specialization in 3rd year. Finance option has become very common. I 'd however advise it is better to appreciate to prepare FS [as per accounting option] before they embark on analysing FS to assist in decision making on Financing, Dividend,Investment and Working capital management [Finance option]
