Kuuliza ndio kujua. What do I need 600,000 apps for much less 500 million?

I wonder. kenyans are a peculiar lot. They will buy an off-roader like landcruiser (the original one) and spend their entire life driving between westie and tao and in Dec go ushago in Thika or Nakuru town

The more apps a device has access to the more the possibility that one can get the particular app for his/her particular problem.

Say an average user only needs 50 apps (off the top of my head), however different users will probably need different apps - apart from some commons ones that most would use.

A business cards app which allows one to to take photos of business cards and then automatically enter all the details in your phone book would appeal to some people while teenagers/college kids may not have the time of day for it. Same for apps that allow you to scan and print documents instead of photocopying them may not appeal to those whose usage don't involve that.

Doctors, engineers, artists, lawyers, children (yeah smart phones and tablets have some very great educational apps) etc would want different applications on top of the common ones. Then the larger the pool you have to choose from for a given type of apps the better the chances of getting the ones that are fit for your purpose.

True.

And for your ordinary wanjiku,
an app will wake you up in the morning.
An app will give you weather update, letting you know what to wear.
An app will let you know your itinerary for the day. A diary.
When traveling to work you have the choice of reading the newspaper, listening to radio, reading/listening to an ebook or watching TV courtesy of an app.
During the day you can chat/talk/conference with so many people simultaneously, an app.
You can record your meetings, take notes all on your phone.
You get to know what to eat and what price, an app
You get news as and when they happen, including market changes, an app
You do your banking, money transfer, payments and receipts in seconds. An app
When going home, you get traffic updates
When the phone gets stolen/lost, you can trace it yourself via internet. Or if its been sold, you can send a text to the new owner letting him know its your phone! An app
Heck, even at night, as a birth control, there's an app that tells you when your wife is fertile!!!
And best of all, when I go to church, I don't have to carry a bulky Bible. I have an app with all the Bible versions I need!

Just be careful of the permissions the app is asking you for.Avoid apps that ask for sms, calls, gps and camera(in context e.g. a diary app doesn't need sms, calls, gps, camera) and other weird permissions.
Uncertainty is certain.Let go
