franco•3 hours agoJudging from the reaction of one of the Kenya governmentofficials, nobody knew of the time on which the choppers would be moved to Somalia despite knowledge of the impending plan. It's therefore reasonable to assume, that all the choppers except one had been destroyed for trespassing Kenya air space. Whoever doubted the Kenyan military capabilities should be afraid.21•Reply•Share ›

kenya will be more preoccupied rescuing their counterparts rather than fighting.

but honestly, that is not serious - I think they were just playing a prank on us.

@Guks - 8 NEW F-15, you say? I doubt, the darn things are too pricey. Maybe some hand-me-downs from U.S.buddies (kina Israel, Saudis, etc)buying more advanced models. But kumbuka the Americans are very fidgety about transferring such high tech. to a country such as ours and Congress would have to be covinced. Very strict agreements concerning such transfers. Russians and Chinese don't care - show me the cheddar and I give you whatever arms you want,is theri motto - exactly why Kenya has sophisticated attack choppers that only the Russians have (Mi-28N)and the Ugandans the Su.(the most superior in East & Cnetral Africa).
F-15 and Su are both 4th Gen fighters and compare well, the F-15 has a very very decorated history with NONE lost in war.

@ Simonkabz
- plausible deniability? Of cos our guys knew about these choppers even last week and I bet they were tracking them minutes BEFORE they even crosssed into our airspace...but in some things you deny deny deny. Besides, downing them would be a declaration of war?
But i still want to know how 3 planes can all get they got lost simultaneously, werent they in contact/ and flying pamoja?

@Motomoto - nasikitika, danny boy aint me and me aint he

They have been found, rescued and all seems well. What is questionable is the ability of the pilots to maneuver in combat situation/theater.

When I saw the story this morning my imediate feeling was that four helicopters clashing at the same time sounded funny. But the explanation being offered as to why they clash landed sounds creditable i.e. bad weather. Wakenya acheni machismo. Even US lost a chopper when they stormed Osama’s hind out in Pakistan.

losing 4 choppers at once is no joke. Thy just lack the experience to fly the machines!

What is the possibility that the officers, not being well trained in ug, feared they can easily be shot down by shebab. Hence they conspired to bring down the planes deliberately? Remember ug has not had an airforce b4. How could they all survive? If this is the case, they need to seek asylum to escape wrath of m7

Maybe after taking Migingo and winning the marathon, they thought Mt. Kenya ni Kambara.
