Oh please! Let's be realistic here. A grenade is a very small device and easily concealed making it very hard to deter a grenade attack because it's thrown and the confusion caused by the blast gives the suspect enough time to escape. Even Americans find it hard to stop random shootings by disturbed civilians who should not hold weapons. So let's not condemn ourselves or the police at least we know they are preventing bigger things from happening.

BBI will solve it

And a Mr. Hersi.....crying cancelled business. We politicize everything in the name of seeking some mileage to the house on the hill.....The likes of Wiper have no business lecturing Kenyans on security issues while they themselves have their asses above time bombs....BK!Sad

Are you serious or being sarcastic. A reliable source in mombasa told me that there was absolutely NO visible attempt to increase security after the US terror warning-no road blocks, random searches and zero police choppers hovering above. And our goverments response is to write protest letters to the US. Surelly?!

Could this have been the work of Americans to validate their travel advisory? I read mischief, particularly after the Minister for Tourism, Hon. Mwanzo and the Acting Head of Civil Servant, F. Kimemia demanded that the Americans review the travel advisory. Who's our enemy and who's our friend? Your guess is as good as mine!

@2012 We can also say IED's, grenades, guns used in Iraq, Afghan and possibly the carnage in Syria are small devices and part of realism and politics of the day. After all in all those instances the devices (guns, grenades, IED's) are concealable weapons and hardly detectable. Very different from scud missiles and atomic bombs for which we employ our police to protect us against and so lets not condemn ourselves or the police at least we know they are preventing atomic bombs and scud missiles from landing on us from the skies.

Ignoring crazed shootings, because in the states guns are licensed to citizens, how many grenade attacks or IED's have gone off in the United Status over the past 24 months. Well in Kenya we should be soon approaching 20. Or are grenades not concealable in states? mmmhh

We employ our policemen to protect us against these grenades and similar weaponry and not to protect us from missiles and other bigger things. Look if they can't pick the grenade carrying shabaab what bigger things are you talking about!

I agree with Kausha and King G you are spot on we cannot force the US to share intelligence reports they have with us,we are a sovereign state and should be ready and willing to defend the flag of our republic as the words of our loyalty pledge say...We are to lax in matters relating to security and its a matter of time God forbid before something major happens the writing is on the wall, its like we are living somewhere in Kabul or in Tel Aviv our intelligence team should pull up their socks and stop dozing on the job...

Ever heard of plain cloth policemen? They dress and look like thugs.
