Interesting thing to note is that Net NPLs was up +2.88% to 958Mn while Loan Loss Provision reduced from 238Mn in 2010 (a low interest regime) to 186Mn in 2011 (with interest rates as high as 25%). Granted HFCK is not a Bank parse thus explaining its interest rates not rising as high as the other commercial banks. It still doesn't make sense of a reduction of almost 52Mn in a year where interest rates are high. Isn't it logical for loan loss provisions to increase as banks anticipate higher defaults within the period or the KBA notice of countering these high interest rate times seems to work (which I doubt given the short time span). Explain this to me cz I'm getting a weird feeling, kwanza BBk then HFCK. I'm sure the regulatory bodies should be watching this carefully cz it doesn't make sense

@Genghis Why should they increase provisions if they don't anticipate defaults? they will be wasting a lot of cash if they do that which ultimately affects ROA...HF is charging it's existing clients 16% while the likes of KCB and EB are at 19-25%...you also have to look at the average LTV at HF Vs other banks...who ever has exposure to the high end of the property market is in big trouble...fantastic numbers...I'm a shareholder...still waiting for them to be uploaded to NSE websiteApplause Applause Applause Applause

A very good comment from the MD

"We are optimistic that we can maintain the growth curve in the current financial year on the back of long term financing which will shield the company from current market fluctuation in the money market," Frank Ireri, the managing director of the lender, told an investor briefing."

Yeah, me three, can't wait for the results, however this market really does not give a hoot about results, I don't expect either to rally significantly....

As long as financial firms continue to announce better than expected results in this bidless market, I expect the market to continue tanking. This is the same script just as it was last year. The bidless market is still hoping on bullishness. Once the financial firms start reporting 'brown shoots' in this bidless market, that's the only time I can expect NSE to mount a serious rally in coming months. I still expect the market to test 3070 and breaking below 3000 is not going to be funny for the current bull callers, but will be fun for those picking at ridiculous prices lower.

Just watch oil prices - they have a very nasty way of surprising 'rosy' fundamentals. That's all...
