The provincial administration

village elder --> Sub chief --> chief....

Up to that level there is no excuse for the 'government' not to have any information or figures, even that which it does not require.

Tafakari.

I thought the thread is about whether Mutua was misquoted or not. Or do you want to misquote him by saying that he was giving excuses? I have not seen him giving excuses.

In fact, he almost seemed to be critical of government.

The damage is already done. This time the media has gone too far. I hold no brief for the man but the whole of the media fraternity should offer him an apology.

@Tassia, the point is, is Alfy admitting that government has no machinery to know how many persons have died from hunger? the police who was interviewed on radio even admitting that he saw children suckling from there dead mother, Redcross coming out with persons who had died...and Mutua saying he has no "official" figures!!!??? The anger directed at Alfy was on his comments about death from hunger...

If i were a politician or held a political seat, i would give short statements to avoid this. But the journalists will always get something to go round and paint you the way thay want.

It wouldn't help. You will say "Some people are saying I will not vie in 2012" and on the news they will only show you saying you "I will not vie in 2012"

The next day you will be very pissed and say "I don't need the media. Kenyans know me well" and it will be edited and in the news you will be shown saying "I don't need Kenyans!" Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly

Watched the shorter video. He tried to absolve the higher ups in the government by throwing those on its lower end under the bus. He was still doing PR for the government while Kenyans are dying from hunger.

Personally I feel he got what he invited and deserved in this particular scenario. Better off contributing the little that I can to Red Cross than getting all worked up in his defence. I feel nothing for him.

I am saying the village elder, as part of government, had to know. Hence the 'government' knew....'government' does not start in Nairobi you know. Or should it have been on a letter head?

Information leaves Nairobi to the remotest areas, right?

Why not vice versa, innit?

I guess we are all entitled to interpret Mutua's statement they way we feel it suits us best. We do not have to persuade any one to agree with our view. In any case, would persuading any one to agree with our views help in feeding anyone. Let's do what we can do to help. Everyone including ourselves have their strong points and their weak points and that is what makes us humans.

So does Alfred want the 'wananchi' to go and do a 'thorough research' on how many people have died of hunger then table the same to him? So will the 'government' go on to let people die of hunger until 'someone' can provide them with 'official figures'?

C'mon guys we are being fed with loads of BS!!
