Guys note that over the past few days when almost all the counters have taken a huge beating this is one share that has stood up and the price has not shaken at all.

I guess this could be one of the reasons why the price of CMC has defied the bear market.

Marshalls loses Chinese auto firm’s franchise deal:
Marshalls East Africa has suffered a blow in its quest to get a large share of the heavy commercial vehicle market after a Chinese firm dropped it from a joint venture.

Foton Motors, which plans to start constructing a Sh1.2 billion assembly plant in Kenya this year to help it raise sales on the continent, had struck a franchise deal with Marshalls for the sale of its pick-ups, buses and trucks.

Now, the Chinese firm is looking elsewhere, arguing Marshalls cannot push sales in a competitive market due to its weakened executive team that has been rocked by boardroom wrangles.

CMC has been the best performer so far this quarter: started at 11.00 on July 1 and is now 12.25 {11.4% up}

The only other stock that has recorded a gain is Limuru Tea. All the others are either flat or have lost!

And I'm happy to report that CMC accounts for 35% of my portfolio. It is a looooooong term investment that I have had since 1994!

@ mnjoro - The boardroom changes have already occured in May 2011 and it was needed to bring the company back to profitability.

@ youcan'tstopusnow - I just went through the article and it is clearly written "Mr Muthoka's ouster is said to have arisen from his disagreement with fellow board members on key strategic proposals he felt risked exposing the company to more losses."

Firms with Governance issues are very bad...look how marshalls has gone down...the same might happen to CMC...this Mr Muthoka guy was the right man for job atleast he knows the business...the appreciation in the share was because of Andy forwaders accumulating shares in anticipation of this board room wars...the moment I realised that I sold my lil shares btwn whats CMC without GoK and Andy Forwaders?
