Dr Nga'ni,it is sad we had to lose the life of such a young man.As you say public health care is a pipe dream at the moment in our country and none of our leaders ever pays much attention to it.It is only with the recent articles by the Minister for Medical Services on his battle with cancer that the matter has got media coverage.

The only problem with us as Kenyans is we seem to have accepted our fate, that we will never get the leaders we deserve who will put public and national interests above that of their selfish needs. In my opinion once we have someone at the top who has a grasp of what the 40 million Kenyans go through in trying to put food on the table and accessing even what passes for basic health care this country will be on the right track.

I hope someone reads this, maybe even on of the presidential hopefuls in the coming elections and that they put their campaign teams hard at work in coming up with manifestos that will address this and other issues that affect us.

Grave(literally) issues raised here.It is the duty of every one of us to make sure that we will not Vote for a candidate just because he is from our tribes but vote for him on the basis of how he intents to handle these issues.

the current debate is: why offer free primary education to kids who will end up dying from treatable diseases?

The truth now is that if you do not have health insurance which can take you to a good private hospital or the cash to take you to the private wing on KNH,you have little choice.

It should however not be tragic because we lost a doctor. That we lose a young man in his prime(maybe many in a day) is bad enough.

As we blame Moi and others, i put the blame on us too. What are we doing about it??? We will elect the same leaders, watch cabinet appointments in our sitting rooms and discuss them with our spouses....sleep, wake up the next day and its business as usual from there.

I challenge you to start making a difference.. In your own small way.
....above all, to stand.

It all boils down to the leaders we vote for. Can you imagine Hon. Sonko presenting a bill in parliament? On what? for what? about what? how on earth? Shame on you Kenyans we need wisdom.
Lord, thank you!

I heard a very scary incident the other day. A guy gets into an accident and the first group at the scene steals everything including his phone and medical insurance.

So good Samaritans take him to KNH. And your chances of survival as an accident victim at knh are way too low. So a guy with an outpatient limit of 1m and inpatient of 5m died just like that for lack of emergency treatment.

May be it's time insurance companies introduced a wrist band.

They should have taken him to Nairobi or Aga Khan... a mere check of his name in the system would have shown he is covered!
Kwanza most private hospitals fully cover accidents!
