Try this company - Conrad Kenya Services. 0731-456222 is the line for customer care, just explain the problem n if you like, visit their offices in Westlands n you n your machine will be well taken care of.

Don't get put off by the location, or the fact that you'll be dealing with a company, their servicing is amazing (pricing n all).

My Toshiba n i have had no complaints since i discovered these guys.

@simonkabz, the most "hardy" laptop, hands down, is the Lenovo (formerly IBM) thinkpad. HP/Cpq is one of the worst brands. I've overseen the selection and implementation of literally hundreds of thousands of notebooks, desktops, servers, and network equipment, and while HP/Cpq makes very good servers, their notebooks are garbage. Always overheating. Chassis flexing. The Thinkpad is the only notebook worth actually repairing (based on the US price of parts and labor). I was afraid when IBM sold the brand to Lenovo, and Lenovo makes non-Thinkpad lappies that are garbage. But the Thinkpad is still number 1, and Apple laptops number two. They are both expensive, but like the old saying goes "Noone has ever been fired for buying IBM."

@jasonhill, on this one i agree with you. You can't go wrong with the IBM/Lenovo thinkpad. It is one of the most popular notebooks for the mobile/wireless customer with very secure features.

The design is attractive unlike previous older models.I've had one for more than two years and i've never had a single problem and looks as good as new!

For more on the 410 model, check out the reviews on this link.

ahhh!! im abit late for this topic ,as clearly the problem has been resolved.

The pavilion dv 2000, 4000, dv6000 all have one common problem...
overheating.. in the first instance its caused by the GPU..graphic processing unit..which would overheat and with time cause the machine to start freezing or hanging..as it is a very important part of the main board

it is wise not to spend much on them, but there are 2 options to resolving this issue..
1. get a new main board
2. get the chip-set that is overheating or the Gpu changed by a pro.

but if you can.. avoid these pavilions..if you already have one..invest in a external laptop cooler fan and get the fan blown regularly to increase efficiency of the fa!!
Enjoy!!
