Is the new found wealth in Kenya the motivation for this Puma deal and wanting to delist?

NTV reported that the suspension is indefinate. If indeed it is true, then i think we will have a long wait. I was caught up in Carbacid and the only sweet thing was the dividend.

CMA has learnt the hard way.
Remember 2007 early when the same story was in the press on CFC bank. The closing price before the material announcement was about Ksh.134. The following day,ati someone sold/bought some 12,500 shares at 900!Laughing out loudly
I'm sure CMA wants to avoid this until the facts are clear, and maybe until the excitement dies down. It's also in the best interests of the wanjiku investors who place market orders without any knowledge of the effect of a material announcement on price capping!smile
This is another 100% for investors! But the wait may be a bit annoying!Laughing out loudly
2012 is really a Great year,i repeat!

When unilever was taken over in 2008 the share stopped trading on 7th July . Thats when the takeover began. They were to resume trading in Oct 2008 if the takeover and delisting didn't go through. It went through. Brooke bond bought the remaining 11.76% at 62 bob. When suspended from trading unilever was at 45 bob .

I think CMA is doing the right thing, this will protect the deal that has been signed. When the details of this deal are released to the public trading may resume .

If it will be a complete buyout there will be 30days for share holders to sell or not to sell. This will take time as procedure has to be followed just like in rights issues. If t is when we got the notice of takeover, the entire procedure would be concluded at say t+124 days.

What happens when a shareholder refuses to sell and the thing is de-listed?

You will be a shareholder in a private company. Kama tu CIC. You will receive annual reports, dividends, AGM notices.

You might find it a tad harder to dispose your shares though...

Its true. Puma energy has an IPO this year, though do not know in which exchange.

Just think out loud here:

Many deals involve cash plus stock. We could see Puma pay, let's say 20 bob, and offer shareholders stock of Puma in return.

Yeah. This could be a reverse takeover. U may be on to something, because from what segman has been saying it seems that kenol kobil won't cease to exist par se. The top shareholders may have been awarded shares and even maybe some board positions in the agreement. Because as a major shareholder it may be hard to equate the potential of kenol kobil and the kenya oil find only in monetary terms. If it was me id also want a piece of the future potential as well.

They should offer official communication of the same. They shouldn't keep shareholders guessing.

I'm happy to have exited at 12.60 cum dividend. I have uncertainties in situations I've no control of.
