Its time for Safaricom 3.0. Fresh thinking required in Waiyaki Way.
- Splitting MPESA into a separate business will be good (not forced by politicians); and position company as a pre- and post-banking financial services innovator.
- Safaricom to focus attention on core comms business by getting everybody to a smartphone, inspire apps and sell data in a big way. No more scalability in voice and SMS.
