Berlusconi messed AC Milan...Glazers want to appreciate Utd's value before the sell it, for that reason they won't allow it to decline. Remember also the global financial crisis has really affected Italian teams e.g. Juve contend that they cannot refuse a good offer for guys like Pogba...that's why even Moyes has had the temerity to scout guys like Marchisio and Vidal. Spain has also been heavily affected by the aftermath of the crisis, hence the influx of players from Spanish clubs into England.

But I agree, a brand can come crashing down very easily.

Wrong. Utds revenue didn't decline,Bayern won a treble which helped boost their revenue.Anyway season 2013/2014 has turned out to be an Annus Horribilis.

"Why are people only blaming David Moyes? Obviously, first of all, David Moyes is responsible for creating total chaos with exactly the same players who won the title last season. Over the last 6 months, Moyes’ prehistoric training methods, poor player management & superficial tactical knowledge have been exposed. Spending £200m will not solve the problem as these new players will either get injured or play in the wrong position with this manager. Moyes is trying everything within his ability to do the job. So one cannot expect anything more from him. And he did not appoint himself…To get to the core of the problem one should take the debate to the next level by analysing who is ultimately responsible - Sir Alex Ferguson...responsible for appointing a relative nobody as his successor allowing him to stay in charge behind the scenes.

If United had appointed someone like Mourinho then Fergie’s role would have been over. Even behind the scenes. Our friend did not fancy that. But if you do appoint a nobody, at least make sure the coaching staff stays rather than the nobody appointing his clueless coaching friends. So, after the initial discussions about Moyes’ inability to manage a big club like Man United, now it’s time to analyse the biggest problem - Sir Alex Ferguson.' Dutch fitness coach Raymond Verheijen
