The stock will go hand in hand with Dangote refinery
There are three main advantages of Dangote buying almost 25% of KPC
1. He will most probably not build a competing pipeline - But this was never originally factored in as a risk in the original price so logically it should not affect the price now.
2. Dangote Refinery will direct business to KPC.
3. Dangote will have every reason to push for modernization and expansion of the pipeline network.
BUT...
Dangote has EVERY reason to keep charges by KPC depressed! The main shareholders - Uganda and KPC - would prefer lower prices/charges being the main customers!! Uganda even got ridiculous concessions including veto powers on rates increases. I don't know where we got our negotiators from. It is like we picked random Kenyans from a Keg bar!!!
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.
