The company was grossly overvalued compared to the peers.
When the bear market checks in they suffer the most.
Similar happening at CIC.
If UAP was listed it could have suffered the same fate;how is the share price trading at the OTC at 200;issued shares is 211mn giving it a mkt cap of ksh.42.2bn.
Profit before tax was ksh.2.3bn
Net profit after tax was ksh.1.67bn

Meanwhile 25.50 prints....unbelievable!

...and now 26 bob pap with a massive demand and an extremely thin supply.

Is this going to be one of those stealthy counters which escape the radar of Wazuans?

In the market they say when a company builds a new head office, gets a fountain and flag pole it's time to sell the shares. For Britam and Centum I would want to hear from the head of risk management before touching. I have never liked companies doing acquisitions and mergers left and right

Always remember what the market says when a company builds a new head office with a fountain and a flag pole it's time to sell the shares. Lessons

Some people failed to spot the "flag pole" and bought this thing @39 bob just the other day.

Today it has touched the highs of 37.

I'll keep repeating this until it's clear. Hopium lamestream articles are not market fundies.

The Obama visit has nothing to do with the market's sombre mood. Even if the GES summit runs for a month the market will still be down.

The CB has cut the market legs with madness rate hikes in a negative growing econ. That's a recession blueprint. Plain and simple, markets always slump in a recession period.

Exactly the reason why I sold UAP when Centum cashed in. Why would Centum cash in their jewel unless it was ripe for harvest? Old mutual bought at a premium price. Do they know what they're doing? Only time will tell.

@200 UAP's trailing PER is 28. What is the justification for this excessive overvaluation? Nothing. Just greed floating the price beyond fundies. This is why one has to be cautious with OTC price disconnects. UAP would be falling like britam if it was in the NSE. Actually britam looks better vs UAP with the current metrics. This coming from the one that has been bearish britam since Sept 2014...

@mukiri, this is why I sold UAP.

smileMarkets are quick to react/Reactive every now and then. The BEAR is running looking for a shelter. Obama "just" address will push interest to Business Kenya and rush to buy back will awaken a quiet Bull.
Next week people will have the urge to buy into Kenya knowing elections are too far 2017 and may want to cash in after a first good harvest. The re-shoot of Britam will be like Savannah Grass after a shower.

UAP
You made a kill in selling UAP;even Centum knew going forward it would have been hard to sell that block of shares at the trading floor.
A hands up to them for the gain they booked
