It's a hard thankless job. It takes special kind of men/women to be good step parents. Maximum respect to those who take such roles.
The child/children always turn against you in late teens/twenties plus and become remorseful in their forties after realizing their folly and how good/great you were to them. Bure kabisa.
In another post hapo juu, I have said it could cost you some 3m to raise the kid then the kid rebels and turns against you.
The joy in parenthood is not to raise kids so they thank you, the joy is in preparing them for success and that they pursue and achieve their dreams as grown ups.
Them thanking and taking care of you later in life is just an added bargain.
Don't quantify the cost of a good education coz it is still way cheaper than illiteracy or a poor education and upbringing
