@Jokes, the story of the tower has not ended. Alexander the great is said to have intended to rebuild the tower. Who is/was next after him? Or what's next?
It's about the wind cutting a rough stone from a cliff and hurling it at the great statue in Babylon and bringing it down and spreading all over the world.
So let's not talk simply about the books we've read, or stories we've heard. Let's talk about how we are living now. What we are doing now. Do we know God? If we do, then we can know his thoughts. Do we know Cain? Do we know ourselves?

Do we know Cain? Do we know ourselves? I agree lets not talk about books we have read and stories we have heard. I have always been fascinated by religion, its dogma, origins and purpose. To me religion is a panacea to what ails us. A bedtime story to soothe the minds of babes scared of the big bad wolf. For if a child asks "WHERE DID MUMMY GO WHEN SHE DIED WE ANSWER..........?" When we talk about God he is us and we are him. we created God to be able to explain events around us and seek solace or lay blame to a particular entity yet all fault lay in us and our environment which we had not yet mastered. we relate all that occurs in our world to him both good and evil. Therefore Cain and Abel are representations of God. Good and Evil. The tower of babel in my opinion represents man's quest to find knowledge (himself/God)BUT God did not desire this and disoriented the humans to confuse them and hinder them from accomplishing their purpose leading us back to the story of the serpent in the garden.... is what he did wrong? is knowledge bad? is innocence and ignorance good? why did the serpent want us to know? To me God is both Good and evil. He is us. Religion, the dogmas and the churches were usurped by the state rulers to dominate thought and control the masses to accept the hell they lived in for a better life in future. For this the masses were taxed (offerings) to increase the coffers of the state and its power. After all is not the church the second biggest money minter after the state?

We had an interesting discussion some time back about 'the church' where we found out that that phrase is not conclusive. Some 'vanquished' peoples have not yet agreed anyway. Incidentally, I subscribe to their school of thought. Until and when that particular phrase - the church - is ironed out conclusively, the matter is in abeyance.

The powerful can use it as they wish, but to what end? God not wanting the tower is consistent with the internal conflict of Cain, and Man in general not being resolved. Self consciousness in Man must start with internal conflict; death. But then life is about conquering death.
