Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has praised Gary Neville and called him the best English right-back in Premier League history.
Neville retired from football on Wednesday after struggling to make an impact on the Manchester United first team this year but bows out as one of the most decorated players in English football.
"Best English right-back in the Premier League? Certainly," the Arsenal boss told reporters. "If you look at his record, he has won absolutely everything and with the number of games he has played, he is without a doubt the best."

Wenger went on to praise the determination of the right-back, saying that it was his mentality that made him such an asset for United over the years. "I respect what he has done a lot because he was certainly not one of the most talented players in the league," added Wenger.
"But what he has achieved is consistency. His record is down to intelligence and motivation - he is an example to players who are maybe less gifted than the Ryan Giggses or the David Beckhams. He still make a fantastic career because he is intelligent and highly motivated. He deserves great credit."

Neville 19-year career took in eight Premier league titles, two Champions League medals and 85 England caps.

Speaking to the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show the Sunderland manager claimed that Neville wasn’t the most talented youngster but was the committed.

Bruce watched Neville progress through the youth system and emerge as a first team player at Old Trafford.
“Of all the young kids coming thorough at that time he was the least gifted of all of them but he had shear determination to succeed”Steve Bruce

The former Red Devils captain said: “He’s played 600 odd times for United, he’s won Championship after Championship, he’s been impeccable both on the pitch and off it, yet there are still people who have a pop at him.

“It’s probably part of the Manchester United thing but no body can argue that he wasn’t single minded enough. Of all the young kids coming thorough at that time he was the least gifted of all of them but he had sheer determination to succeed.

“He’s played 85 times for his country and can you remember him having a bad game for England or Manchester United for that matter. He’s had a wonderful career and yet there is that stigma about him, it must be the Manchester United thing.

“Everybody knew that Phil was the most talented of the brothers but once he had the chance to get into the first team, he grasped it and never looked back. I don’t think anybody displaced him for the next ten, twelve, thirteen years.”

TAZ, they all agree Gary was a legend a true sportsman who gave his all for the love of the game and his club, a treu Man Utd statesman!!!

On other news:

The world of football hailed Sir Alex Ferguson's 2,000th game as a manager yesterday.

Fabio Capello, Carlo Ancelotti, who was sitting with his former English "Man Friday" Ray Wilkins, Martin O'Neill, Avram Grant, Sam Allardyce, Alex McLeish and Alan Pardew, and some gnarled old figures of the past who were lightly described by the guest of honour as the "coffin dodgers", all raised their glasses to the life and the continuing times of Sir Alex Ferguson.

George Graham had this to say:

"You never stop fighting with Alex Ferguson but nor can you stop respecting him. You look at his achievements, you look at his hunger to go on winning, and you have to say that there is no one like him in the game."

Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

Forgot to mention one small thing. Man U have now gone on a 29 games unbeaten run in the EPL. The last time that happened was in 1999 and we all know what happened that year - the famous treble!!!

In other news, SAF sets a target of 84 points. He believes that is enough to win the league. That means Man U needs to get 30 points from 14 games - 30 points from a possible 42. Not a tough job for a team of Man U's pedigree.

There are 12 points that will guarantee the League though - 3 from Man Shitty, 3 from the goons and 6 from Chelshit! We get those 12 points the cup ends up at Old Trafford regardless of what happens elsewhere. The 6 from Chelshit are the most important!
