I have accessed some of the Q2 reports and the jury is out.. Banking is under radical reform.. Things will never be the same. Thank me later

Today is not mid July, we are in June @Obiero. R they through cooking results already and ignoring the remaining half of the month.

@troll Q2 starts from April 1st

@bugaboo, I do copy that, but ends @ 30th June.

Sure, but a single deal aka @kq could change a hell lot of things over night. Are you forgetting your peer @mbuvi making banks work for their money @kq over night?

Looks like the local banks,especially the not so strong Tier 2 & 3 ( NIC, DTB & Jami Bora) are looking ahead at a turbulent 2017 following increased increased provisions/ write off given the above deal. 23B is a massive figure to move from the loan book to investments in KQ shares which will then be revalued ( Assuming 2.3b per bank 23b/10). Strange that CITI, BBK and SCB were not caught up in this deal, was it their global experience in the aviation industry or were the local bank coerced in lending?

So, what is the state of the banking sector as we approach the August 8 General Election?

I have been reading through data based on a review of the Q1 2017 regulatory disclosure that banks must publish quarterly in fulfilment of the requirements of prudential guidelines by the Central Bank of Kenya.

The statistics make for very depressing reading.

I have come to the conclusion that we are at a point where policymakers must approach the banking sector with more intellectual honesty.

We must to stop kidding ourselves that everything is fine in this sector.

At some point I thought I was reading my own opinion piece.. Banking stocks in general are not tradable right now

Mr Bodo...paints a depressing picture. But if investors were to invest ONLY in shares that tick all the right boxes...then alot of investors would be on the sidelines.

More importantly one should have all the info...and learn from it and take a risk and invest.
