Here is a test for Minister Orengo.

Did the Syokimauans pay the 4% stamp duty to the Ministry of Lands when they acquired the properties. If yes, which illegal land were they paying for.

@ Chemos At least this can shed some light, these are the documents Orengo should produce to help unravel the issue instead of ranting up and down..

The gazette notice says 3.937 acres yet when I measured the demolished area it is 4km by 2km approx 4,000 acres.

could there be other gazette notices ?

3,937 acres

What I suspect, and this is just my own hunch, is that somebody used the process of compulsory acquisition of land (the one done in 1982) to fiddle with the land. Most likely the land was actually acquired by the Govt for KAA but somebody changed the map that didnt reflect the actual size of the land acquired. It is also possible that even KAA does not have title that includes all the land that was acquired by the Govt.

If Orengo is serious, he can dig out all this information and set out clearly the history of the land in question.

Just a thought on this

we were all originally "landless" and when as citizens we require a permanent place to stay on un occupied land we apply to the government for allocation of the land and get a tittle deed. So in a sense all the land belongs to the government.

Therefore even though the Govt may have bought the land in 1982 (also possible the money was allocated but not paid outd'oh! ), the govt allocated the land to a new set of individuals in 1996.The same Govt was not aware there was a plan for the land and more so they did not know they needed to pay land rates to Mavoko.

The issuance of title deeds provides legitimacy and legality in my view.So Govt must compensate...

The fact that the Govt did not enforce the redesigned border after allocation means that the land is correctly in Mavoko althoug it can belong to KAA.

Heard it on classic fm radio, this is bad though my thinking is that you feel too bad to such events, and the feeling that you have nothing more to loose is inevitablee. May God grant them strength and wisdom during this difficult period

I wish to confirm that there was a demonstration by mlolongo residents over syokimau demolitions. Pelting motorists with stones is totally wrong and unjustified and they should a find better ways of solving issues. Now when you (mlolongo residents) break/smash a guys windscreen heading to Mombasa for a weekend holiday..really does that stop the demolitions. Its utterly preposterous and shame on you. And could someone please confirm the position of the NSSF land that was sold to individuals behind tassia.

Land is a tricky affair in our country..... too many con-men in this trade, no clear records at the ministry, no co-relation of inform between different govt agencies etc.
Am just wondering why the affected are not pursuing this issue with the known company that sold this land to them or rather why are these people not arrested for obtaining fake documents and selling govt land to innocent people.

Wish I could but this is not the fora. I leave it there. In due course, anyone wanting to know, will know. Red flags.
