Britam holds a significant chunk of HF. The HF results are nothing to write home about. 2017 banks start the FY in the rate cap era where Q1 results will give us a sneak preview on what awaits the banks. HF almost issue a profit warning in 2016. What will happen in 2017 with a dicey economy?

IFC was not PPT but a bailout!

New accounting rules saved them. Hopefully they were not too aggressive with their GPV.

Could you tell what's the difference between NPV and GPV?

An actuary would explain it better than I can.

But in short GPV assumes the insurer has a great eye and can see the future (more assumptions) while NPV doesn't assume the insurer knows everything that will happen in the future (less assumptions).

Danger is where the insurer doesn't have the right data and talent to make these GPV assumptions.

Those are my exact fears when it comes to GPV. Given the management standards witnessed in various firms in the NSE, whats to say that some ambitious crooks won't use the 'looser' guidelines to suppress the real numbers? They could do this 'legally' for years without being detected.
The main purpose of the stock market is to make fools of as many people as possible.

As @karasinga tells us market markers are thieves. They've rallied this stock ahead of HFCK release of Q1 2017 results .Their aim was to exit before rupture and all out disruption by a huge drop of mortgage lender's earnings.
