Is it not hypocrisy for any govt officer to wonder why kenyan fuel prices didn't fall as widely expected when the same govt introduced new taxes on diesel, there is alot of noise which might cause a review of the formula or scrapping it altogether.

Without the formula I think the price per litre can only be higher, I don't see govt reducing its taxes. But omc will happily increase distribution costs and margins.

Inflation. Salaries and rents have increased. As have the prices of many imported (& local) goods. Transport requires trucks (imported), spares (imported) and maintenance - lubes, tyres, etc (imported).

Plus I have waited for many years for a payday!

Amen to that. I was just thinking, if a company was bought out during a bear, that would be so sweet. Then you scoop up deals with the loot
Of course, the price offered might not be as much as during a bull market BUT if the price is fair e.g. 15 ... I would look at adding Unga at 35, KenRe at 21, I&M at 99, etc

we are not selling a fully recovered company the time for selling is behind us so may this selling story disappear

Are you expectant of material announcement? I can see you reverberating a rally in a bear market. When is good news likely to trickle in? Tell me please,I want to dive in wholly.

Lower working capital debt [thanks to lower cost/liter], higher volumes [increase in vehicles] and no more underwater hedges.

Thanks I would consider joining this counter before profit announcement.

If u are planning to buy and sell at a profit immediately, you might be in for a shock. THIS IS A BEAR MARKET. It's like looking for a needle in a haystack.

You have overlooked the fact that material announcement converts BEARS into BULLS for a particular counter.

I haven't overlooked. You have symptoms of getting burnt that's why I keep warning you. Anything you buy this year, be ready to hold for 3 years. Speculating in a bear market is suicidal, chances of success are very low.

Which means if an investor is holding anything for now and stands a position of exiting for between 0-10% gain the better.

KK is still a mighty stock. Mostly it plays the divedend and bonus cards not the capital gains card. Waiting for end of Feb to announce the 40cents to make it 50Cents FY2015. But we hve to go bck to the basics where KK was swinging between 10 and 13 Ksh for eons

GoK should pay up. Pap!
In the era of declining oil prices, just add 1/- to the price of fuel for 24 months to sort out these issues!

Compensation. It sounds like begging. Its not a goodwill. The Govt can do this by reducing excise duty on such companies but I never see where cash shall be paid Pap.These are contingencies that the govt can revert with a long period of time as it also went at a loss by closing a firm and you do not expect a quick refund. Govt can use KRA funds to prop the claimants reducing taxes levied for a period.

GoK is composed of very many thieves. That's why (except for KenRe) I avoid GoK controlled firms.

I look at the compensation as icing on the cake. An extra helping. A surprise gift when it is finally paid.

What makes ken Re so special, yet it's gok owned. Remember a CEO is an employee esp one without stake and in a gok firm....

It's my exception BUT if I sniff any funny business whether by the CEO [whom I trust] or the board or senior management... I will bail. I hope I learnt my lesson with KQ.

I like the reported NAV [low P/B] and EPS [low PER] but MANAGEMENT is very important.

It finally happened to me. A lady from my stokebroker called me to give market advice, they wanted me to sell Kenol Kobil because it's at 9.40. And my entry is 8.50. Can you imagine! The nerve! I composed myself and explained to her my long-term view on the market. And that because I buy periodically they'll still get 2% and a larger amount when I sell at huge profit.

I'm being told this after holding kk for 4 years, to lock in a 5% gain. I had to share this. I'm glad I'm in wazua, otherwise I would be performing so poorly because of being misled

I got a similar call last year, and the guy was just insisting that I dispose off the shares. Mind you, he is not my broker and still beats me where he got my contacts.

a proffesional broker is supposed to give such advice basing on serious wrong fundamentals on a stock or some leaked bad news, that's why I insist that a majority of our brokers are school leavers with no idea on stock analysis, when the cow was half dead you didn't sell how now do you sell when it has fully recovered and producing milk, bottom line "any stock that has held on to this bear without losing much has some silver lining on it"just for curiosity where did she want you to take the proceeds?

I have been to my broker's office to seek some information. But to my surprise the officials I meet there lack Mathematical prowess to analyse the events happening in the corporate world. I think we need shrewd analysts who can offer indepth look into money minting opportunities to investors before making decisions.
