Hi guys, i want your take on the above topic.

Over the past twenty years, derivatives have been seen to be an important study in the field of finance.Options, swaps and futures have been used as a means of price discovery for comodities and as a hedge against risks.the study of FIXED INCOME SECURITIES and DERIVATIVES continues to elude students as they are not taught at universities or even colleges.

If we (CSIA/CFA holdres) are to gradually demutuallise our stock exchange and achieve vision 2030, isnt it in order institutions of higher learning review their syllabus in tune with the changing global market trends?

I know that our capital market is still growing but just like the new costitution that we very well voted for, can't we also amend the law governing financial markets change in line with other emerging markets so that future generations and investors can benefit from a variety of either equity or debt or derivative investment options?

maybe you could start by educating those around you on the topic. After that you could start a school. Ask what you can do for learning in this country not the other way round....

The CFA in itself is an MBA which is good, but considering the comparative costs to a local MSC in finance the above subject will not be adderessd thoroughly if i would take MSC.

a pharmacist whose performance in equity investment is the best evidence of functional illiteracy in all CFA's, MBA, CPA's,economists and all so called Analysts around..we know so much but can't seem to make it work for us.. we seem to be better of advicing, arguing, discussing theories than see them work for ourselves..

we think we improve our chances when we complicate our analysis formulars..and soon throwing about hefty words..stochastic..fibonacci..elliot's wave..bla bla fishcake!!

Stocksmaster is the best tool on wazua to humble some of us.

@Stocksmaster.. EnCORE! good sir. we that have been humbled salute you! Applause Applause Applause Applause

I beg to differ. Though a pharmacist by profession, Stocksmaster cannot be said to have "no knowledge". Whenever he makes any transactions, he normally comes up with a rationale for his action/activity.

A perfect example of somebody who is not only schooled but also learned, if you ask me.
