Especially at Bellevue (where you can cross the 2 roads and go into South B)
Every week accidents kibao! They should build a bridge. The nearest bridge is at the flyover and that is too far!
GOD BLESS YOUR LIFE

About an year and a half, i lost a dear friend together with six of her collleagues and friends along this road just near vitafoam premises. A dark cloud has continued to linger over me while at the same time wondering how many more have to die before something is done. It pains me anytime i use this road and my heart is filled with rage. To all drivers on this road, please drive caitiously.

I read this somewhere a few months back:

"The engineer who designed the expansion of Mombasa Road from Nyayo Stadium to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport should be fired and deregistered by the Institution of Engineers of Kenya. Reason? Take a walk along the road and you will observe the following glaring design errors:

1) The acceleration and deceleration lanes at the Capital Centre were removed and converted into the third lane of the road. Motorists leaving these premises "jump" directly into the main road where vehicles are moving at an average 80kph to 100kph.

2) At the Kapiti Road junction (opposite Bellevue Cinema), the acceleration lane has been converted into a bus stage, complete with a passenger shelter.

3) A new bus stop has been built at the section opposite the old American embassy. It is wide enough and long enough to fit two buses. However, the passenger shelter was erected about three metres after the bus stage along the road! Thus waiting passengers have to walk on the outside lane of the road when boarding their bus.

4) The sections with acceleration and deceleration lanes have misleading road markings - long narrow dashes instead of short wide ones. Motorists get confused and think that these are normal additional lanes to the road.

So far I have seen at least three accidents where the vehicles overshot a deceleration lane (one at the Capital Centre U-Turn; another at the St James Hospital U-Turn; the third at the Panesar Centre U-Turn).

5) The paved foot paths are a welcome addition, but some of them are right next to the road... where cars are zooming at 100kph (between Ramco Court and the South C and South B flyover). In addition, some sections comprise misaligned, discontinuous segments."

AMEN

Driving in the section between Nyayo Stadium and City Cabanas is always a nightmare - in both directions. There is almost an accident daily along this section. The police should release statistics on accidents along this section - maybe that will shock the authorities concerned to action.

Joining mombasa road from Citi cabanas towards town is also a nightmare...a heart stopper....I witnessed a motorbike and its rider being crashed by a lorry .dying instantly as we waited to cross towards town...a few weeks ago...vitafoam bend is also another black spot ... I have seen many vehicles rolled upside down every time I pass there....

I have a who friend is bed ridden after an accident on this highway ...

It applies to the highway all the way to Mtito andei voi through to Mombasa city ...many promising young men and women have lost their lives there

Overspeeding is also a major contributor...

This thread is dedicated to the users of this road .....Every time you pass there ... remember ...Your life is important .....Take care...

I feel for the pedestrians. Having to close three lanes is not acceptable. They need to do something for the pedestrians.
