Farming with pigs is easily the most profitable agri-biz in Kenya today, certainly miles ahead of more fussy poultry. Only need to get three thing right; breed, feed, care. Need info? obvious FC Christ conquers, Christ reigns, Christ commands. May he defend his people from all evil.

@wanjy FC= Farmers Choice just go to their pig unit and they will be happy to give you acurate and practical info from scratch to market incl. stats. You can source your parent stock even feeds from them & (listen to this) guarantee you market if you meet their standards. Now that is a piece of cake, isn't it? Am also interested in pig farming. Went to farmers Choice to get some info but wasn't fully satisfied. I was given some write ups to read and was refered to their field extension officers, but the write ups have some good info.

Farmers choice website has lots of info for any aspiring farmer. However it lacks financial info "You've never lived until you've almost died; for those who have fought for it, life has a flavour the protected will never know."

Its going to one year since I started the project. Its a good venture but laden with challenges, feed being the main one.but you can be creative in what you feed them. For marketing, the demand is higher than supply, but be weary of middle men.

I am interested in doing pig farming too. Do you get your feeds from farmers Choice? What of the pens, any specs? design? availability of water?

The 222-mpigs are the best breeds if you ask me. Portfolio: Sold You know you've made it when you get a parking space for your yatcht.

The quality of feed is inconsistent add that to scarcity of raw materials if you are to make your feed. I don't get from farmers choice, though their feed is better and more affordable compared to others. for pens, it depends on the number you intend to keep, e.g mothers. But a 10X12 ft house can fit a mother and her children, three to four mothers alone, or 8-10 growing piglets. Water is very important, you cant do without.
