About 100 arrested

Quote:
Close to 100 KRA staff have been arrested after the authority interdicted members of its staff suspected to be involved in tax evasion, sources at the DCI told the Star.

Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji has already directed the DCI to launch an immediate investigation of the KRA staff and their coconspirators in an operation dubbed 'Operation Linda Ushuru'.

Donations are tax exempt.

What is more important is the get rich schemes that KRA officials have been into. One gets employed as an intern and within one year the guy is a landlord with all sort of cars.

So Robert Alai sent a tweet to DCI telling them he knows a senior kra manager with properties all over nairobi. DCI actually responded and gave him an email address and telephone number to send the details.

Of course we know right now Alai is extorting bribes from almost any kra staff whose contacts he can get. DCI just gave him immense leverage.

On the positive side, this could be the first time in history, kra staff have felt fear and worried about their ill-gotten wealth. This is a great step in the right against corruption.

In this country, I have learnt to celebrate the small victories, the big one might never come.

You really believe that this is the information being relied on?

So you want to say the term "Honest Kenyans" is non existent? You want to lynch corrupt politicians but not corrupt public workers?

Personally i don't think all those guys are crooks/frauds. Probably some knew what was going on but never reported and that is what may jeopardize their jobs.

Remember some distillers were arrested and taken to court sometime back? And we have been seeing counterfeit stuff being nabbed every other day. If these people have been working with them in one way or another, they need to go in.
