Wajanja.

1) SAHL bought out some of the minority shareholders in/around July 2018 and thus didn't even give them the FY 2017 dividend. The benefits of the funds used to generate profits in FY 2017 were not passed along!
2) Then SAHL also screwed them over for 1H 2018's dividend. Same story.

Now I wait for Unga!

I am glad I held onto mine. A 5/- dividend + 98 versus those who sold out.
They knew the inside story. They had the numbers. They knew what NPLs were going to be resolved/reversed.

Similar situation with Seaboard and Victus given they know the sales and profits for 2H 2018 while the Buyout attempt was ongoing.
The Valuation Report done in 2013 was done by Lloyd Masika (Ndegwa firm) and they would know what the value of the properties are in 2018.

I will hold onto Stanbic for now.

Loans to customers were up 16
per cent to Sh136 billion. Cheap
loans to directors, however, shot
up from Sh937 million to Sh5.1
billion.

It's a free market but I wish Minority Shareholders had held onto their shares instead of selling that at 95 (incl the FY 2017 dividend) to SAHL.

If Stanbic can make 15/- (EPS) then at 90 that was 6x PER which is "cheap" in my book. Within 2018, the DY would be a decent 7.5% which is better than 1-year FDR from most banks including Stanbic.

I am pragmatic. I expect to sell out of Stanbic in the future when SAHL comes calling but they need to pay a fair price not 6x PER or 0.9x BV.

They sent me the docs. I went through them. I pulled up 1Q results for Stanbic Bank. Took a look. I looked through the tender form. And promptly tossed it out.
