Just checked my power bill and is 4x what I normally pay. I feel like I'm paying rent twice. Anyone else noted an astronomical increase?

The cost of living is expected to fall significantly after the government commissioned a new power plant expected to cut electricity bills by 30 per cent. In a move aimed at reducing the cost of doing business and attracting investors, President Uhuru Kenyatta said he expected the reduction in tariffs to take effect at the end of this month. The reduction in bills is expected as the country moves away from use of expensive heavy fuel to generate electricity in favour of the cheaper and clean geothermal power. Manufacturers are expected to pass the benefit of cheaper power to consumers by lowering the cost of essential goods such as maize flour and sugar. “Take my word that the cost of goods will come down and this will lead to a lower cost of living for all Kenyans,” said President Kenyatta at a function after the launch of the 140-megawatt geothermal power plant at Ol Karia in Naivasha Friday. Have been getting between 171 and 178 units for 3000kes and that would last 1 month plus some days into the new month.Since Nov last year I have been getting between 150 and 161 and they last me 3 weeks. Is there a way they can steal from the token? Love is beautiful and so are those who share it.With Love, Marriage is an amazing event in ones life time, the foundation of joy, happiness and success.

I noticed that before my meter was changed to prepaid I used to pay around KES 800-1200 per month. Now my average spend is KES 3000-3500. Still don't understand. There is an explanation that post paid meters are not accurate but I don't buy that Reflection Eternal

But even my post paid has always been in arrears since Dec every time I pay 3k it shoots up by 3.5k so I am always in dept to kplc. I took my meter reading and went to kplc offices, they did some funny maths and told me that indeed i owe them.

We have been paying relatively high bills for the last 20 years. But my friend, you still have not answered the question as to why there is a sudden shoot in the cost of power.

Boss, that is a natural occurrence like the eclipse or comet. The unusual power bill hire occurs every 5 years... Your guess is as good as mine... (hint - ask Uhuru, Ruto, Moi, Raila, Kibaki and Kalonzo). BBI will solve it :)
