Housing Finance has reported a 27 per cent increase in profit after tax for the first half of 2016. Net profit increased to Sh612.6 million from Sh485.1 million in the same period last year. The mortgage lender attributed the growth to an increase in net interest income that rose from Sh1.71 billion to Sh2.09 billion in the review period. In the six months to June, the loan book grew by seven per cent to Sh53.5 billion from Sh49.9 billion. Deposits increased from Sh37.4 billion to Sh39.8 billion on account of increased customer numbers. Managing director Frank Ireri said the group also increased its holding of government securities from Sh516 million to Sh3.7 billion to take advantage of the improved yields. http://www.the-star.co.k...-sh6126-million_c1400765"There are only two emotions in the market, hope & fear. no interim divided this year? or they forgot announcing check the liquidity ratio of 21% against minimum CBK requirement of 20%.. There was no way they could pay an interim. But full year dividend may rise based on massive interest income gain from the Komarock houses COOP 255,000 ABP 15.85; IMH 5,000 ABP 35.55; KQ 604,200 ABP 6.96; MTN 23,800 ABP 5.20

It has caught up with them real fast. The jump in govt securities is to create a liquidity buffer and help meet/beat capital ratios not coz of an increase in yields. The main purpose of the stock market is to make fools of as many people as possible.

I do not recall any other bank [that's not been flagged as being in trouble] with such a low Liquidity Ratio. No wonder there is no interim dividend. Rights? 2nd Tier Debt? Sales of houses? Stop lending? Enhance debt collection? HF will need to get some more cash in soon. Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett

HF will need to get some more cash in soon. 25B bills offloaded by banks in a quick fire sale yesterday at CBK. These are interesting times. Luckily in the year 2014 I sold off my bulk holding in HF at 23, KCB at 60 and COOP at 22 COOP 255,000 ABP 15.85; IMH 5,000 ABP 35.55; KQ 604,200 ABP 6.96; MTN 23,800 ABP 5.20
